http://www.keitht68gti.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Keith's 205 GTi Re-Build. I wanted one of these when I was in my early 20's but couldn't afford the insurance, so now I'm attempting to bring one back to it's former glory. Tuesday, 4 March 2014. The plan is to get the engine out and have it assessed before doing anything else. So, day 2 of dismantling was all about removing the inlet and exhaust manifolds and a few other anciliary bits and bobs such as the distributor, fuel and cooling system hoses and associated electrical connections. Well a second ev...

Keith's 205 GTi Re-Build. I wanted one of these when I was in my early 20's but couldn't afford the insurance, so now I'm attempting to bring one back to it's former glory. Sunday, 4 January 2015. Well Im afraid to report that following a recent trip to the Classic Car Show at the NEC before Christmas, Ive decided that the costs involved in bringing this old Pug back to a condition I would be proud of really don't justify any future return from selling the car. Keith's 205 GTi Re-Build. I wanted one of these when I was in my early 20's but couldn't afford the insurance, so now I'm attempting to bring one back to it's former glory. Tuesday, 13 May 2014. My friend Chris Morgan came over in June to help get the engine out and to take it to his workshop for stripping and inspecting. Unfortunately I forgot to bring my camera with me so I don't have any photos of the engine being removed. Below are some of the images of the stripped engine. View my complete profile.

Having done as much as possible on stripping the engine bay ready for the engine to be removed (waiting for my mate Chris to bring his hoist round) it was time to turn our attentions to the interior. Rear seats about to be removed. Rear Seats removed - backrests and safety belts next. Inertia Reel Mounting Point.

Classic Le Mans 2014. I had decided some weeks ago that I would like to 'dress' the car in period race decals for the trip to Classic Le Mans. I finally sorted out a design layout (getting hi-res images was challenging) and on Monday this week my local supplier, Signs Express, put all the transfers onto the car.

This is the diary of my Cobra build. and this is what I have now achieved. The worst thing about this build as it nears completion, is that I am faced with all the jobs that I have been putting off because I didn't fancy doing them any earlier for one reason or another. So on to the bonnet strut. I had originally planned to fit gas struts but because I have fitted a stainless header tank for my washer bottle, I don't have the room to do this now. Note bracket removed from one end of top strut. A bolt run...

This is the diary of my Cobra build. and this is what I have now achieved. Factory Visits to GD and EDA. Thursday 27th March 2014. After passing IVA, Andy said to me that I needed to put about 500 miles on the clock and then bring it back to the factory to be set up properly once everything had time to settle down. I had discussed this with Andy and he was confident this would be resolved quite easily. and as usual he was right! First off damping was adjusted slightly on the front suspension. Then th...

This is the diary of my Cobra build. and this is what I have now achieved. So off came the fog and reverse lights, the Q-Jacks were fitted as were the Wind Wings and Side Louvres/Grilles. I hope readers will agree the rear end is rather sexy now. Total Kit Car Magazine.
