Across the Pond and Then Some

Across the Pond and Then Some. My adventures.well, everywhere. My trip to the far north. Overall I was very impressed by how nice and hospitable everyone was (the license plates all bear the motto "Friendly Manitoba"), and the city's Old West feel was fun and appealing. Too bad the weather is a different story! The University of Manitoba. In the legislature building next to the provincial animal, the bison (pronounced bizon, if you want to sound like a local). Assiniboine Park, next to the Winnipeg Zoo.

Across the Pond and Then Some: Westmont Orchestra Golden State Tour: The Adventures Continue

http://www.kelseyseuropesemester.blogspot.com/2011/02/westmont-orchestra-golden-state-tour.html

Across the Pond and Then Some. My adventures.well, everywhere. Westmont Orchestra Golden State Tour: The Adventures Continue. Saturday we headed to the city where we played a benefit concert at the Bayview Opera House for the Old Skool Cafe, an employment program for at-risk youth. That night we went out on the town and had a harrowing but ultimately successful 3-hour adventure to Ghiradelli Square. Photographic proof that, after 3 wrong buses and a 20 minute walk, we made it in time for a cup of cocoa.

Across the Pond and Then Some: A Summer Update

http://www.kelseyseuropesemester.blogspot.com/2010/08/summer-update.html

Across the Pond and Then Some. My adventures.well, everywhere. At the request of some of my adoring fans (okay, I admit it: it was a few family members), I've decided to do a summer review here on my blog. I confess that I was not even close to being across the pond. But I was across the state, working as an interpretive ranger in Yosemite. The summer got off to an interesting start; when I moved to Wawona in late May, it was still snowing. My porch on Memorial Day. The Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias.

Across the Pond and Then Some: September 2009

Across the Pond and Then Some. My adventures.well, everywhere. Paris, je t’aime! I've been looking forward to this city more than any other on the itinerary, and it's fantastic to be here at last! We arrived on Friday after a long day on the bus. We've been going nonstop ever since, and it's been wonderful! A nighttime sightseeing cruise on the Seine River. A day at the Palace of Versailles. A nighttime view of Paris from the top of the Arc de Triumph. The Louvre and the Musee d'Orsay. Here in Belgium we...

Across the Pond and Then Some: August 2009

Across the Pond and Then Some. My adventures.well, everywhere. Tomorrow it's on to Birmingham! Some highlights so far:. Parliament and Big Ben. After a great "field trip" to the British Museum yesterday, we went to see Tom Stoppard's Arcadia. It was absolutely wonderful. The acting was great and the play itself was thought-provoking and hilarious. I know this is only the beginning, but I'm still classifying Arcadia. We've arrived in London! More to come very soon! And so it begins! Exactly one week from ...

Kelsey's essays

Wednesday, February 16, 2011. The Control of Choices. Authors note: I had a lot of trouble writing this essay. Switching between three different prompts, the biggest problem I had was having what I wanted to say make sense. Light and dark, good and evil; these are opposites that need each other as support for existence. Our world is filled with opposites, choices, and paradoxes; they surround us and are part of our daily routine. In the novel Life of Pi. Having left the luxury of the island, Pi finally l...

Kelsey's European Excursion

You cannot travel within and stand still without." -James Lane Allen. Wednesday, July 21, 2010. Returning to Madrid: the solo excursion ends, the mother/daughter trip begins. After an evening of very little sleep, I caught the metro to Barajas to meet my momma. Found her at the airport no problem (thank goodness.neither of us has a telephone, so that could have been interesting) and we hopped the metro back into the city center. . Since my jet-lagged mom needed a siesta (but only a short one! Day two inv...

Kelsey Sews

Thursday, October 10, 2013. Well after my unintentional 6 month hiatus - I'm back! We had such a busy summer that there was no time for blogging and not much time for sewing either! We went to Acadia National Park and The Great Smoky Mountain National park among other trips and had a fun filled summer. Hiked to the top of Mt LeConte! View from Chimney Tops. Now that fall is here things have become a bit less hectic so I should have more time to devote to sewing. Heal @ do.Good Stitches. Links to this post.
