Sponsored Students

Kenya’s Children and Kenya’s future. At the moment, Kenya Kesho is paying for 16 students to attend secondary school. CAN YOU PLEASE sponsor a student. Some of our students are very bright, and The Kenya Kesho Trust would like to provide them with the opportunity to pursue their studies outside of the public system run by the government. Instead, we’d like to give them a chance to attend a private institution here in Mombasa. For example, the Aga Khan Academy. Would YOU like to sponsor a bright student.
Trust Ladies
https://kenyakesho.org/index.php/43-achievements/138-kenya-kesho-trust-ladies
The Kenya Kesho Trust creates job opportunities for ladies in the village who sell us ‘Ufutas’ sesame seed sweets, which are packaged and sold to tourists through Charlie Claws. As a means of self-help. One sweet lady in the village has gone from zero income to approx US $130 per month through the sale of ufutas to the Kenya Kesho Trust. Another, who packages the sweeties has also gone from zero income to US $130 per month.
Sponsored Teachers
https://kenyakesho.org/index.php/43-achievements/135-kenya-kesho-trust-sponsored-teachers
Helping to educate Kenya’s children for Kenya’s future. As funds become available, we would like to increase the number of teachers sponsored (we currently pay full salaries for 24 teachers) by at least 5 teachers in each school each year until such time as the student/teacher ratio is acceptable. Right now, the student/teacher ratio in the region at some schools is 120/1. Clearly, this needs more attention. Would YOU like to volunteer as a primary/junior teacher. PLEASE contact us below.

Kenya Keep Up?
Follow a MBA's Eldoret Excursion. Thursday, July 14, 2011. I’ve Been to Hell and Back. Sorry for the delay … things have gotten quite busy in the evenings with work. We took a group to Lake Naivasha for a weekend of hiking. We took off first thing in the morning to ensure that we would have enough time to hike the park before dark. Our first stop of the trip was the equator, which marked my first cross into the southern hemisphere. In total, the lights were activated for 4 hours before being shut down an...
Kellee in Kenya
Thursday, May 2, 2013. Sometimes it hits me so suddenly that it takes my breath away. It's the way things remind me of you-when I have a sleeping kid in my arms, or when I see a book you love, or when I hear something that sounds like your laugh. And the pain comes fast and it comes strong and it lingers. There are days when I would fly a million miles just to tuck you into bed and kiss your little cheeks. Tuesday, February 5, 2013. This week is a tough one. And if I had stayed I could hold him in my arm...
HOME (Help Orphans with Milk and Eggs)
HOME (Help Orphans with Milk and Eggs). Thursday, June 17, 2010. A quick update. By all accounts everyone at the orphanage is doing well, as is Sunrise and the chicks. I hope to get another update soon and will post it when I do. This past weekend I was named a Paul Harris Fellow by the Sunrise Rotary Club, for my work in Kenya. It is given "in appreciation of tangible and significant assistance given for the furtherance of better understanding and friendly relations among peoples of the world". Here are...

Kenya Kick It?
My experiences for a semester in Nairobi, Kenya; taking classes, seeing the sites, and volunteering at the Kibera Girls Soccer Academy. Once the semester ends, I'll be traveling East Africa for another five weeks so I'll be sure to include details from those travels as well. 3 Poems from Irene Awinja (KGSA Alumni). IF I HAD POWERS. If I had the world in my hands. I could change many things. I would make the impossible possible. I would make people love each other. Understand and care for each other.
