Promoting education for girls worldwide. Saturday, September 22, 2012. Just back from a business trip to NYC and DC. In Washington, I had the chance to take an international grant writing course. I came across this during my funding research today. It pulled at my heartstrings. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Endeavor Eleven: November 2009

Promoting education for girls worldwide. Monday, November 23, 2009. Samburu, Kenya is experiencing a worse than usual drought. Today, I had another meeting with the executive director for Koins. We discussed the imminent need to build a safe and sanitary girls dormitory at the Samburu Secondary School. The stories she told me about the conditions she saw there last May made tears drop from my eyes. The next time you turn on the tap, try to think about what a precious resource water is. The Life of Grace: April 2013
http://gracerich.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
The Life of Grace. Sunday, April 21, 2013. The other side of the world! What a crazy awesome winter it has been! It has been so amazing! Rome was pretty amazing. Molly had been there in high school but I've never been to Europe. I went a day early and I toured the Colosseum and it was really cool. I could just see the Gladiators slicing the heads off of wild beasts! The Vatican, the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica. Of course we had to see the David! There's so much history there. It's so weir...

http://gracerich.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
The Life of Grace. Tuesday, September 28, 2010. Update on my physical status:. Update on my mental status:. Kinda getting a little stir crazy not really being able to do anything. I did miss one river trip, but did get to go on my last one. My brother, Eric came and I really couldn't have done it without him. He was really great at not letting me carry heavy, awkward things and I was really glad he came to be my muscles and also just that he got to explore the Canyon. I'm going to DC for a couple days, t...
Endeavor Eleven: July 2011
http://create4acause.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Promoting education for girls worldwide. Monday, July 18, 2011. For example: 2 lunchbox napkins used as placemat and napkin! When daughter started preschool, the school's lunchbox policy was no waste (and two fruits and vegetables). Every school day, I packed 2 cloth napkins: one for her placemat, and one to use. Not sure if it's a french school lunch custom, but I thought the policy was lovely. To carry on the tradition, I started the lunchbox napkin project. It's ready to go.finally! Links to this post.

Kenya Keep Up?
Follow a MBA's Eldoret Excursion. Thursday, July 14, 2011. I’ve Been to Hell and Back. Sorry for the delay … things have gotten quite busy in the evenings with work. We took a group to Lake Naivasha for a weekend of hiking. We took off first thing in the morning to ensure that we would have enough time to hike the park before dark. Our first stop of the trip was the equator, which marked my first cross into the southern hemisphere. In total, the lights were activated for 4 hours before being shut down an...
Kellee in Kenya
Thursday, May 2, 2013. Sometimes it hits me so suddenly that it takes my breath away. It's the way things remind me of you-when I have a sleeping kid in my arms, or when I see a book you love, or when I hear something that sounds like your laugh. And the pain comes fast and it comes strong and it lingers. There are days when I would fly a million miles just to tuck you into bed and kiss your little cheeks. Tuesday, February 5, 2013. This week is a tough one. And if I had stayed I could hold him in my arm...

HOME (Help Orphans with Milk and Eggs). Thursday, June 17, 2010. A quick update. By all accounts everyone at the orphanage is doing well, as is Sunrise and the chicks. I hope to get another update soon and will post it when I do. This past weekend I was named a Paul Harris Fellow by the Sunrise Rotary Club, for my work in Kenya. It is given "in appreciation of tangible and significant assistance given for the furtherance of better understanding and friendly relations among peoples of the world". Here are...

Kenya Kick It?
My experiences for a semester in Nairobi, Kenya; taking classes, seeing the sites, and volunteering at the Kibera Girls Soccer Academy. Once the semester ends, I'll be traveling East Africa for another five weeks so I'll be sure to include details from those travels as well. 3 Poems from Irene Awinja (KGSA Alumni). IF I HAD POWERS. If I had the world in my hands. I could change many things. I would make the impossible possible. I would make people love each other. Understand and care for each other.
