Epipaleolithic Foragers In Azraq Project (EFAP)

Tuesday, July 20, 2010. Week 7 - Over and OUT! This week we had Toby back with us in Area B – yeah! At the moment we are focussing on getting the boundaries of the feature exposed, photographing and mapping. Then, we will dig it in small 25x25 cm areas. Sunday Jay arrived – woohoo! It is very cool, but very complicated and thus slow-going. We did what we could this year, but so as not to rush it, we will have to continue next year. We also had a BBQ with our workers and neighbours on Sunday night, where ...

Epipaleolithic Foragers In Azraq Project (EFAP): May 2009

http://kharaneh.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html

Saturday, May 30, 2009. Kharaneh IV 2009 - Week Two. Kevin came to visit and work on the site for a few days this week. I was really happy that he came out to see the site and work on it, but he kept writing in his field notes ‘No pottery found today’. This was not really the most helpful comment, since the site is occupied long before pottery was around! Posted by Epipaleolithic Foragers in Azraq Project. Friday, May 22, 2009. Kharaneh IV 2009 - Week One. And then, it was the first day off…Yeah! Most of...

Epipaleolithic Foragers In Azraq Project (EFAP): June 2008

http://kharaneh.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html

Sunday, June 29, 2008. Begining of Week 6 - already! Just a very quick message while I am breezing through the internet cafe on my way to get more red plastic crates. We have just started our last week of excavations and are beginning to tidy things up. Two big things make the news for us: 1) last Friday it was 48 degrees celcius in Azraq! And 2) yesterday we hit sterile deposits in our deep trench! Wow, it has gone fast and we now have a lot of flints to deal with. Wednesday, June 25, 2008. I did already...

Epipaleolithic Foragers In Azraq Project (EFAP): Week 6 - Better Late than Never

http://kharaneh.blogspot.com/2010/07/week-6-better-late-than-never.html

Tuesday, July 20, 2010. Week 6 - Better Late than Never. Editors note: - apologies for the delay in posting - got lost in the mix of SPAM and other assorted meats.). This week went by extremely quickly – we had a full week on-site, but it flew by. On our last days of the week (Tues-Thurs), the wind was really bad and we had to quit work early all three days because the wind and sand drove us away! It was almost filling our trenches faster than we could dig! In Area A, more gazelle horn cores, but here un...

Archaeology in Jordan: Return To Madaba

http://azraqarch.blogspot.com/2008/06/return-to-madaba.html

Friday, June 6, 2008. We generally work until 11:15 when we pack up to head back to Azraq. Our afternoons are filled with processing artifacts, documentation, etc. Eventually we call it a day around 7pm - just enough time for a cold beer and then bed. We are a fairly small crew - only 11 of us, but we all get along and are having fun. As the oldest crew member (ack! Harrison Ford is looking pretty old.but he's a tough old dude and if I looked half as good as him when I am 50, I'll be happy! This blog was...

Archaeology in Jordan: Back Home

http://azraqarch.blogspot.com/2008/06/back-home.html

Monday, June 23, 2008. I really do have to apologize to all loyal readers of my blog. As you know, my access to the internet in the desert was a bit limited. But now I am home and I will be updating the blog on a more frequent basis with interesting tidbits about my work this summer (pictures and video to come) as well as developments in the world of Archaeology, Classics and History. The same trowel that I have used on every archaeological project since 1989. Its irreplacable. I am devestated!

Archaeology in Jordan: May 2008

http://azraqarch.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html

Friday, May 30, 2008. Flat Tires and the Desert. I am writing this post from the comfort of the CBRL (British Research Institute) in Amman. We are here today (Friday) to do some supplies shopping and bring some project members to the airport. Presently the noon call to prayer is happening - there is a mosque right beside the CBRL and it is very loud. And no wind).but I have been adapting well. Have to go shopping in Amman now (allways an adventure) - I'll update with some photos in the near future. It ha...

Archaeology in Jordan: April 2009

http://azraqarch.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

Monday, April 13, 2009. No Jordan, No Cry. Well - I know I haven't updated this blog lately (probably nobody is following anyways) but I thought I would just make it official by letting everyone out in the blog-o-sphere that I will NOT be heading to Jordan this summer. Instead, I will be teaching my usual class this summer - Intro to Classical Civilizations. Nothing to do with Jordan unfortunately. Hopefully will get back into the field next summer! Andrew J. Archaeology in Jordan: May 2010

http://azraqarch.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html

Friday, May 21, 2010. Well, unfortunately my plans for going into the field this got squashed by circumstances beyond my control (though I still managed to put a trip together to go to the Aegean and Italy). Nevertheless I am continue to do blog postings for both the Kharaneh project and the Tell Madaba project - so we'll see how that all goes. Hope this posting finds everyone well. Andrew J. Graham. Monday, March 15, 2010. A Home So Old. A time comes, even the sun gets cold. A time comes, even new gets old. What if the moon twinkles, far, far away. What if the evening gives you a new day. If hatred and lust and chaos are lost! Would we achieve a world we must? If fear’s driven away, if envy’s dead! Would we achieve a liveable world ahead? Some questions; I seek some answers to them. My dreams, my wishes; who am I to blame? Imaginations; it did never hurt myself. The sun was gone, it was dark and cold.
