Monday, January 26, 2015. Marsh Sparrow Banding January 19-23. The weather cooperated for 4 out of the 5 days this banding period. Due to lack of personnel on a couple of days, I was only able to cover 2 sites over the four days of banding. This wasn't necessarily a bad thing as I was able to thoroughly cover both sites capturing 69 new birds and 36 recaptures of 8 different species. And Sea Ox-eye Daisy ( Borrichia frutescens. Saturday, August 15, 2015. First Day of the Season. The first day of the season was rather slow compared to previous years. We only had 26 new birds and 2 recaptures of 7 different species. It was actually a fairly typical mid-August banding session though. Most of the birds captured were juveniles (hatch-years) and represented local breeding species. We did see an American Redstart flitting through the trees near net # 15 but she was able avoid the nets. 1 Great Crested Flycatcher. Of New Birds: 26.

Monday, December 1, 2014. 2014 Fall Migration Banding Summary. The 2014 fall migration banding station at the Kiawah Island Banding Station officially ended yesterday! Nets were opened for a total of 103 days (out of a possible 108) from August 15 - November 30th. Despite a very rainy September and October, we only had to cancel banding on five days due to bad weather.
