October 8, 2016. I love donuts but I don’t have the patience to wait for dough to proof and I hate frying things, so this recipe is perfect for me. No yeast, no proofing, no frying. Dirt bombs are basically baked cinnamon donut muffins coated in cinnamon sugar. Once they’re baked they have a crusty top but are still fluffy on the inside. When I first found this recipe I made these dirt bombs twice in one week. They’re so easy to make and even easier to eat. Dirt bombs (aka baked cinnamon donuts). While t...

salted caramel | kitchen adventures

https://kitchenadventuresnz.wordpress.com/2016/05/10/salted-caramel

May 10, 2016. November 17, 2016. If you haven’t already noticed – I’m on a bit of a salted caramel buzz at the moment. It just goes with everything – in milkshakes, on pancakes, on ice cream, or even in buttercream. Adapted from gimme some oven. 1/4 cup heavy cream. Combine sugar and water in medium saucepan and place over medium-high heat. Bring to boil. If sugar crystals start to form on the sides of the pan brush the sides down with a pastry brush dipped in water. One thought on “ salted caramel.

black forest cupcakes | kitchen adventures

https://kitchenadventuresnz.wordpress.com/2016/06/27/black-forest-cupcakes

June 27, 2016. There’s nothing like a bit of baking at the long week – especially if it’s for a surprise birthday lunch. My aunt had a big birthday recently (I won’t say how big) so of course I had to make her favourite – black forest. While most black forest cakes are made with sponge I decided to go with a super moist mud cake instead stuffed with a sweet cherry filling. These babies are topped off with a creamy mascarpone frosting, a bit of chocolate, and of course, a cherry. 1 3/4 cups flour. In a me...

chocolate chip cookie dough cake | kitchen adventures

https://kitchenadventuresnz.wordpress.com/2016/09/11/chocolate-chip-cookie-dough-cake

Chocolate chip cookie dough cake. September 11, 2016. September 11, 2016. Life has been hectic – travelling, work, and more work. The cure? Baking of course 🙂 I’m planning something big for my partner’s 30th in December so I thought I should use that an excuse to bake and do some recipe testing. Chocolate cookie dough cake. Adapted from baked bree. Because I’m just recipe testing I halved the recipe and made a small cake. To make a larger version double the ingredients and baking time. 1 1/2 cup flour.

https://kitchenadventuresnz.wordpress.com/2016/05/09/the-fatty-bum-bum-cake

The “fatty bum bum” cake. May 9, 2016. May 15, 2016. Hello and welcome to my first blog post! I hope you guys enjoy it 🙂. It was so much fun making this cake! I usually make cupcakes so it was fun planning something bigger. Although, I have to be honest, it was a bit nerve-wracking at times like the day before I delivered it I had a dream that I tripped and fell onto the cake! Luckily that didn’t happen. Let’s start with the cake…. Adapted from The Paperseed. 2 1/2 cups sugar. 1 tbsp 1 tsp baking soda.

Snacks, Apps & Sides. November 13, 2015. 1 can cannellini beans. A few tablespoons of olive oil or oil of choice (I love avocado oil). 1/8-1/3 cup of shredded Parmesan or strong cheese of choice (optional) The vegan version would use a tablespoon of nutritional yeast instead. 1/4-1/2 cup of milk. Mince garlic and let it rest a few minutes (this increases its awesomeness. seriously look it up.). Get water boiling for pasta and oil warming in a skillet. There you have it! Kitchen Adventures with Lucy. Cooking and Kitchen Adventures (or misadventures) with moi. This recipe will make you seem like a domestic/baking goddess. Not only are these biscuits (or cookies for those playing along from distant lands) super delicious, super easy and super cheap. They are also really flexible. How do these make you seem like a domestic/baking goddess, other you than the fact you’ve churned out some pretty fine biscuits?
