this blessed life: expectation

http://knit-me.blogspot.com/2011/09/expectation.html

Red Tent Henna and Blessing Ceremonies. Saturday, September 03, 2011. I always thought that the use of the term "expecting" for pregnancy was odd. What are we "expecting"? Expecting a child to be born? Well, obviously. Expecting there to be. But there's another side to the word "expecting". It isn't a guarantee. Nothing is certain: nothing. To be quite honest with you, I don't even entirely expect to get a baby at the end of this. I'm keenly aware that sometimes you just.don't.". I am struck today by the...

this blessed life: guesswork

http://knit-me.blogspot.com/2015/04/guesswork.html

Red Tent Henna and Blessing Ceremonies. Thursday, April 02, 2015. Here's the thing: I don't know what I'm doing. Parenting, educating, all of it: I really don't know what I'm doing. Here's the other thing: no one else does either. That is not to say that we're all utterly clueless, but we are all of us, to some extent or another, making it up as we go along. We're guessing. Who knows. I sure don't. So when it comes to computer and IT literacy, I'm merely making informed guesses. I recently read a blo...

this blessed life: Sunday morning

http://knit-me.blogspot.com/2015/01/sunday-morning.html

Red Tent Henna and Blessing Ceremonies. Sunday, January 11, 2015. Mom slipped away gently, softly, slowly at 11:15pm last night, January 10. Just after 4 we met with her doctors and decided it was best to allow her to go in her time. Her last hours were so peaceful. So calm and still. There was laughter at her bedside. There was music. I lay my head on her shoulder, taking my last comfort from her simply being. Just being there. Just being. And it was good, so good. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

this blessed life: On wet-nursing and unconditional love

http://knit-me.blogspot.com/2011/10/on-wet-nursing-and-unconditional-love.html

Red Tent Henna and Blessing Ceremonies. Friday, October 21, 2011. On wet-nursing and unconditional love. Earlier this week, I met a baby who, at five days old, had lost two pounds. And I nursed him. I wondered what it would be like to nurse someone else's child. The first time I nursed my own child it felt a little strange, such a new and singular experience: would it feel odd when the child was not my own, when I'd only met the family moments earlier? Unbeknownst to her, she had shared something of hers...

Neglecting My Kids: Surrender

http://neglectedkids.blogspot.com/2015/08/surrender.html

Finding new ways to ensure my children will need therapy, one day at a time. Tuesday, August 04, 2015. My shelf with my wips is getting a little out of control. Apparently I REALLY like pink project bags. My purple yarn is officially in a time out. It needs to learn to knit nicely. I've got a plan for it. I'm feeling fairly confident about the new course of action. It is a combination of all my previous techniques. But I haven't tried it out yet. I've been a little distracted. But that alpaca yarn. I loo...

knit wrong, purl wrong: August 2007

http://knitwrongpurlwrong.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html

Knit wrong, purl wrong. In which I dig up the knitwrongs of history, and make a few mistakes of my own. Wednesday, 29 August 2007. Knitwrong is taking an enforced absence from the internet in order to effect the sanity-shattering relocation of the Webbo family from from Sheffield to Bath. By Sunday. (And I know that this is not so much an "announcement" as a "statement of self-evident fact", but I thought I should put some gloss on the cryptic pronouncements of the last post.). http://katesnewerblog.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html

Insert clever name here. It's about whatever I feel like writing. Member of the Pack. Sometimes, new members of the family are last minute, and unexpected but pleasant surprises. (We've had surprise new members of the family before, such as Lulu.). He's a bit hyperactive (he's been kenneled for a few weeks because his owner has become very sick), but that should settle down soon. He does have a constant expression of OMG! On his face, but that is endearing. Links to this post. A Christmas In Pictures.

Old Lady Pen Pal Shares a Tale. Am I the imagnary knitter? More Than You Care to Know! In a few hours my best friend and I are joining forces to spend the rest of our lives together. I’ll put up pictures later unless I’m in a wedding cake coma. That’s entirely possible. Right now I’m listening to Bruce Springsteen sing “Book of Dreams” to me and I could just up and die of pure love. But I won’t. Laquo; My therapist says not to see you no more. Date : April 19, 2008. But watch out for that wadding cake.

Insert clever name here. It's about whatever I feel like writing. Besides the boys, of course. (Game Boy is growing like crazy. His feet are officially bigger than mine now.) Knitting is sort of growing. I'm about 1/2 way through a bath mat and I'm half way through the lily pattern on the second sock. All of these pictures are from a week ago. It's finally warmed up and the sun is out, and now there has been a ton of growth. Roses and weeds make a fine bouquet. The tomatoes are blooming. The last day we ...

Neglecting My Kids: Magical Things Happening Here

http://neglectedkids.blogspot.com/2015/08/magical-things-happening-here.html

Finding new ways to ensure my children will need therapy, one day at a time. Monday, August 10, 2015. Magical Things Happening Here. On Wed, August 5th, something very sad happened. The children returned to school. Can you believe they're in 2nd, 6th, 7th, and 10th grade? Something magical happened at 10:00 am. At 10:00 am the Queen Bean went down for her nap, and The Greatest and I hit the pool. No bickering, no screaming, no getting splashed in the face. You had me at lunch. We had lunch at this great ...

this blessed life

Red Tent Henna and Blessing Ceremonies. Saturday, September 17, 2016. Today my breath comes short. I scroll through Instagram and I see photos of beautiful yoga postures and videos of freeing vinyasas, I see captures of inspired sewing designs brilliantly executed, I see paint applied with fingers in a frenzied need to express and relate through colour and texture. I see musicians and dancers, movers and makers, writers and dreamers. I see words and leadership and teaching and relationship. I have consid...

Friday, May 29, 2015. Well I know it's been about a TRILLION years since I've posted anything so I thought I'd re-enter the ol' blog with a post about last week's Knitting Retreat! My MIL and I are members of the San Diego North County Knitting Guild ( SDNCKG. And twice a year the guild has a knitting retreat! In January and in May! This year, the May retreat was held at the Mary and Joseph Retreat Center. In Palos Verdes and it was BEAUTIFUL! And the peaceful quiet! They were such funny gals! Our second...
