Swept Up Whole | Knit 1, Poem 2

Knit 1, Poem 2. The musings and amusings of a knitter and reader. August 7, 2008. Did you know that Kay Ryan is our new poet laureate? But, alas, I found nothing. How dare they, eh? I mean, no, this is not Secretary Of State, but still… this is a respected post. A post that’s been held by the following, to name a few of the famous, (and many, many more) amazing poets:. And , if you’re interested, here are more: http:/ www.loc.gov/poetry/laureate.html. So, here is one of her gems:. NPR is the only news so...

Knit 1, Poem 2. The musings and amusings of a knitter and reader. July 29, 2008. Even in 1982 that would have been excessive! Who lives in this region that the airwaves are catering to? So, this past weekend Tom and Lila and I took our first family road trip, and it was great. Our destination: Fredericksburg, VA, where my family was meeting on Saturday at my cousin’s house for a reunion. Here are some highlights:. She also got to have her first thunder and lightning storm on a ferry ride! Have shown us t...

Rhinebeck | Knit 1, Poem 2
https://knit1poem2.wordpress.com/2008/10/18/rhinebeck
Knit 1, Poem 2. The musings and amusings of a knitter and reader. October 18, 2008. Today was the perfect mix of fine fall weather, luxurious yarn, and outstanding friends. At 7:15 this morning, my knitter peeps and I embarked on a 3-hour road trip to Rhinebeck, NY for the annual NY Sheep and Wool Festival, a mecca for knitters. The fun started in the car:. That’s Melody driving and Steph riding shotgun, and Heather and Hollis knitting away in the back. Me? And to look at adorable animals too:. Yes, that...

Quasi-geostrophic Theory: Summer Fun
http://quasigeostrophictheory.blogspot.com/2008/07/summer-fun.html
Wednesday, July 16, 2008. We've had a lot of fun already this summer. We kicked things off with a trip down to Delaware to celebrate Gemma's first birthday with some dear friends. A lot of fun was had by all, especially the adults (mojitos and Wii are a fun combo! Here's a picture of Greyson nicknamed "Chubba-chub" by Auntie Lisa. This year the rain held off for most of the day so Elisabeth was able to go play on the beach. Here she is playing in the sand. Here he is representin'. Aw, what a cutie! You s...

Quasi-geostrophic Theory: Dumb NFL Announcers
http://quasigeostrophictheory.blogspot.com/2008/09/dumb-nfl-announcers.html
Sunday, September 07, 2008. So today I was watching the Dolphins-Jets game and one of the announcers commented on the youth of the Miami team. "Oh they are just such a young team," he opined. "They don't know how to grind out 4 quarters of football." Um.excuse me? Did I miss the memo where college football is only 3 quarters? This type of drivel drives me freakin' insane! Quasi-geostrophic Theory: Still here...
http://quasigeostrophictheory.blogspot.com/2008/10/still-here.html
Friday, October 17, 2008. The past few weeks have featured numerous fun things: an awful cold, a trip to China for Rich, the stomach flu which took us down one by one, terrible teething and lots of work. The one thing that has been keeping me going is knowing that on Saturday the 18th, I along with my knitting posse will be trekking to New York. No we are not going to the city. How silly! We are going to the New York Sheep and Wool Festival. Of course. So I probed further."What do you want Ariel ...Since...

Quasi-geostrophic Theory: A little of this...
http://quasigeostrophictheory.blogspot.com/2008/09/little-of-this.html
Monday, September 15, 2008. A little of this. And a little of that. Things have been busy busy since classes started on the 5th. It's nice to be back to work. It's been a bit of adjustment for everyone, but so far so good! Greyson is rapidly approaching 8 months old. He now has 2 teeth. His latest trick is crawling backwards. He can move pretty quick! I've been doing a lot of knitting. So much knitting and so little time! Whatever. I knit what I want. So what if I have a dozen WIPs? Fantasy football has ...

Quasi-geostrophic Theory: Finished!
http://quasigeostrophictheory.blogspot.com/2008/07/finished.html
Thursday, July 10, 2008. I finally finished Katja for Elisabeth. I'm pretty pleased with the way it came out. It's too big but oh well. Also, I'm not sure 100% cotton was the best thing since it's already drooping a bit. Here are some pictures of the princess modeling. I also started my next pair of socks. These are for Rich. I also need to get cracking on some baby gifts. Yikes.there is not enough time! It looks great on her. That came out FANTASTIC! It seems to fit great! Lila's is too big. Sigh.

Quasi-geostrophic Theory: Happenings
http://quasigeostrophictheory.blogspot.com/2008/07/happenings.html
Monday, July 21, 2008. This weekend I was felled by a nasty cold. Elisabeth brought it home from her school; as soon as I saw her runny nose I should have realized I was doomed. I was out of commission all day on Sunday but by the evening was feeling better. Today was also better although now I am feeling a bit yucky again. Probably time for bed! Elisabeth is a riot. Today she came into the bathroom while I was brushing my teeth and asked, "Mommy? Is there a skunk in here? The Red Sox game is just starti...

A blog for hand knitters. Monday, July 21, 2008. Here's another Poncho, done in the Lion Brand Boucle "Wild Berries". Isn't it a great color! Here's Sally's sweater finished. Its a summer Tee style, done in Red Heart Speckled Aran 4 ply. It came out really nice. I've been fooling around with left over yarn, making 12" square blocks that are copies of quilt patterns. here's a diamond pattern. And this one's my favorite, a pineapple, done in the Trinity stitch. Does it look like a pineapple to you? The col...

Knit 1 Pray 1
Knit 1 Pray 1. Tuesday, 5 July 2011. So here it is, the end has come. It's been a great journey and I'm thankful to all of you who have walked/read it with me. The last few days have been an interesting time of working out what's really gone on for me over the last six months. I don't think I've come to any actual conclusions yet. I'll probably be doing something at church in the next few weeks, but if you don't come to (my) church then you'll just have to call me up to say hi. Saturday, 2 July 2011.

Knit 1 Purl 2 Chat
Knit 1 Purl 2 Chat. Thursday, October 18, 2012. A Hat for my husband.will it happen? My husband kept saying, "I will need a hat soon". And I kept saying, "I can help you look for your hat from last year.". It took me a while to figure out that he wanted a knitted hat! I'm a bit slow sometimes. OK, so this is a simple skull cap type hat. It has a strip or two in it, totally open to the wearers discretion. Here is what I realized. So here is the hat a bit further along with a few stripes. Of course, I will...

By keeping my fingers busy, I resist the urge to throttle the loud talker beside me, behind me, on the plane, train and while at sea.
