so much yarn... so little time!: January 2006
http://clockework.blogspot.com/2006_01_01_archive.html
So much yarn. so little time! I used this particular pattern. Following it with the F-hook, Caron's Simply Soft yarn, and all. My FO comes remarkably close to the picture shown on the craftown page. But as to the size! The circumference of this hat turned out to be about 8 inches. 8 inches! Are premies' heads really this small? Color me in awe. Posted by beanchild @ 8:38 AM. My so gave me yarn for my birthday! I like the feel, but socks will not be made with this yarn! Nope, uh-huh, no way! For dad: a hat.

So much yarn. so little time! Completed using the pattern from this particular site. With a J-hook, and red heart yarn, worsted weight. My first pair of socks, made because i saw her site. And also because the idea of crocheting socks seems like such a cool idea. Turned out to be a lot easier than i expected, once i dropped the idea of stopping each round and beginning the next. instead i went ahead and continued my rounds without stopping. Posted by beanchild @ 9:21 AM. I like to crochet.

So much yarn. so little time! I started this dolphin. All in all, I liked the way the dolphin turned out. I'd work it up again. But the next time, I don't think I'll start in the middle of the body when stitching the two halves together. Perhaps I'll start directly at the tail. Posted by beanchild @ 7:33 AM. Firstly, yes this is. Another catch-up installment. Secondly, here. To do this hat from the brim up? Why didn't you think in the round? What is up with the incredibly long brim? Are these bones large?

So much yarn. so little time! Over at the 'Ville. I saw this pattern. Being the lazy sod that I am, I didn't feel like doing the entire afghan; 189 hexagons are a heck of a lot to crochet! However I did want to play around with different shapes than squares, so I decided to do a baby afghan with the hexagons from this pattern. The first shot is of an individual module, and the second shot comprises the entire thing. Posted by beanchild @ 8:11 AM. Have I given a plug for this particular group. I call this...

So much yarn. so little time! Here's the 2nd installment of catch-up. On the left is the "Little Boo-Boo Bear. I followed the instructions mostly. The differences being that I didn't embroider the nose, and I did french knots for the eyes. Hey, there was no time/money to go out and buy felt. I have no idea. Personally, I like to think that the picture from the pattern didn't actually reflect the pattern. Above on the right is the Amigurumi Snail. And again, mostly I followed the pattern. I did hit a roug...

So much yarn. so little time! Finger puppets. I love their hair! For 'em. As you can see, mine didn't really turn out like the picture. But that's okay. Because 1, I couldn't find the fingering yarn so I used 30 cotton instead, and 2, I didn't have similar eyes or noses; I had to embroider (word used loosely) those features. What a trial that was! I'm quite pleased that Miz Purlene helped me out with that. What I'd like to know is, why does the 3rd from the right look so mad? Posted by beanchild @ 5:39 PM.

So much yarn. so little time! Apparently my wrists are un-proportionately small. Because the original cuffs were waay too big. But inspite of one hand finishing up with a gecko finger, I'm pretty happy with the way these turned out. Here's where I got the original pattern. Posted by beanchild @ 10:52 AM. And what is very cool, is that these socks will be good for covering my feet, and separating them from my shoes, while not heating up my ankles; it is getting towards summer chez moi. So my sister's frie...

So much yarn. so little time! Posted by beanchild @ 9:49 AM. The shawl draped over the chair is what I received in the mail a couple days ago. Isn't it beautiful? Yeah, I think so too. :D I like the colors, and especially the fringe. Mmmmmm, fringe. And I've included a shot of the detail in the stitching. I've seen this pattern before, and wondered what it looked like up close. Now I know. Thankee muchly, Shelly! Posted by beanchild @ 7:39 AM. South atlantic coast, United States. So much yarn. so little time! Chicago is a fabulous place to visit. I highly recommend it. And if you've a yen for yarn, then definitely visit Loopy Yarns. The staff is great! Another very cool thing about Loopy Yarns is that if you buy some yarn and the later find out you actually need more, the store will ship to you. Isn't that wonderful? Yup, I think so too. Some folk would travel miles for a haircut, I'd travel miles for yarn. Posted by beanchild @ 8:51 AM. South atlantic coast, United States.
