Knitting Underway

Knitting On The High Seas. Sunday, November 01, 2009. Where I've Been; Where I'm Going. When you love someone, all your saved-up wishes start coming out. And I meant to post sometime in July . . . So where have I been? Working, of course. Loving having my husband home. And doing a little creating here and there. Debbie Bliss' Alphabet Blanket, which was vastly entertaining and far less painful than I had feared. A little stashbusting in garter stitch. And I didn't just stop there:. Noticing a theme here?

Knitting Underway: March 2006

http://knittingunderway.blogspot.com/2006_03_01_archive.html

Knitting On The High Seas. Thursday, March 30, 2006. Trying to Wing It. There are three rules for writing the novel. Unfortunately, no one knows what they are.". It should be so easy. You cast on a few stitches, you go around a bit, you try things on, you keep going and then you stop. I see people who've just learned to knit making hats this way all the time. But unless I have that little road map in front of me, I can't even start the journey. Posted by Anneliese Kelly at 8:46 AM/Permalink. Wool socks i...

Knitting Underway: Why I Knit Socks

http://knittingunderway.blogspot.com/2009/03/why-i-knit-socks.html

Knitting On The High Seas. Sunday, March 08, 2009. Why I Knit Socks. It's no use going to the goat's house to look for wool. This is my sister, about 3 minutes after I gave her a new pair of socks. Specially requested to be like the last pair - that is, "too soft to be wool." (Thanks Judy. And that, my friends, is why I knit socks. Keeping feet warm and comfy from Somewhere, Iraq to Philadelphia to San Diego. Posted by Theresa at 9:12 AM/Permalink. Thanks You, T! For those of you who are purchasing Taps.

Knitting Underway: Red-Blooded, True-Blue

http://knittingunderway.blogspot.com/2006/04/red-blooded-true-blue.html

Knitting On The High Seas. Friday, April 14, 2006. I am a free-born American. I can bob my hair. I can smoke cigarettes. I don't smoke, and I'm actually growing my hair long, but I'm all about individual liberty. And because we know that the personal is political and the political is personal (Happy Tax Day to everyone), last night I exercised my right of free choice. I could have worked on my Rose Leaf Lace Stole (of which you saw a very crumpled version on the airplane here. I could have knit Trellis.

Knitting Underway: Ribby Choices, er, Cardi

http://knittingunderway.blogspot.com/2006/04/ribby-choices-er-cardi.html

Knitting On The High Seas. Monday, April 17, 2006. Ribby Choices, er, Cardi. You are your choices. -Seneca. Let's talk more about my Ribby Cardi. As soon as I decided to cast on, I remembered why I hadn't already. There were choices to be made. A little stretched. Yeah, good, but how much is a little? You see the problem, right? Does that seem right to you? Seems right to me, but it's still awfully easy to rip at this point. Posted by Theresa at 6:21 AM/Permalink. I will say I love your color choices!

Newton's knitting: Leap

http://newtonsknitting.blogspot.com/2009/09/leap.html

Friday, September 11, 2009. A teacher read this essay today for the high school students, in remembrance of September 11. And though posting essays/poetry/etc. is not usually my "thing," I found it very moving. So I thought I'd share it. The poem is by Brian Doyle, and I believe it first appeared in the American Scholar magazine. I found it through PBS. A couple leaped from the south tower, hand in hand. They reached for each other and their hands met and they jumped. The mayor reported the mist. No one ...

Newton's knitting: September 2009

Saturday, September 26, 2009. Reese and another kid at the playground were commiserating about siblings when I caught this lovely exchange:. Other Kid: "My sister is a . . . " Pause. Newton's knitting: March 2009

http://newtonsknitting.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html

Sunday, March 29, 2009. I must have done something good. That's the only explanation, really, for the shower of good fortune that came my way this week. On Thursday, I picked up the kids from school and came home to find a package. (Is there anything more exciting than an unexpected package? Inside was a lovely belated birthday present from Amy. That's Paca Peds alpaca blend sock yarn, and a project bag she sewed herself. Squee, handmade gifts! It's gorgeous, right? Socks are my keep-in-my-purse knitting...

Yarns & Tall Tales: Jail Time

http://yarnsandtalltales.blogspot.com/2006/10/jail-time.html

Yarns and Tall Tales. A Collection of Anecdotes, Occasionally Embellished for Dramatic Purposes. Monday, October 09, 2006. My dad and I have a strange relationship. When I go home to visit, our interactions consist of a grunt of hello and an obligatory hug once in a while. Then he goes to his studio and tinkers with something and I go to my room and tinker with something. But I know he loves me, because occasionally he’ll yell at me. I don’t know how I possibly missed it. I had to. Dad said in the car.

Newton's knitting: new, again

http://newtonsknitting.blogspot.com/2009/08/new-again.html

Thursday, August 20, 2009. With any sort of luck, this will be my last post about starting a new job. Wednesday was my first day - just new teacher training, really - at my new school, South Shore Charter Public School. SSCPS is a K-12 school, the first charter school in Mass, I'm told. It was founded with a focus on community service, multiple-intelligence learning, and the belief that school is not just preparatory, that kids need to know that what they are doing now. But she has decided to move to be ...

Donna's Drama's: KNIT ME A SWETAH

http://donnasdramas.blogspot.com/2006/11/knit-me-swetah.html

My little dog - a heartbeat at my feet." Edith Wharton. Thursday, November 02, 2006. KNIT ME A SWETAH. This is all dog hair would you believe? I say hair because Tessa is a Lhasa Apso mix and they don't have fur or shed. They have hair. She only weighs about 20 punds but all this hair came from her! I really want to save it to knit a warm and toasty sweater but it is all full of matts! Such a waste of good potential yarn! Posted by Donna at 11/02/2006 11:37:00 AM. Thursday, November 02, 2006 4:16:00 PM.
