Interventions

Any children who are working at a phonic phase below that at which the whole class are being taught will need a focussed phonic intervention. This should be 15 minutes per day. Teaching should be FAST FUN and SYSTEMATIC. If TAs are to deliver this, they will benefit from training. See the assessment pages for more information on determining what phase children are working on. These assessment sheets may be helpful before and after interventions. Assessment sheet - Phase 2. This is an intervention aimed at supporting children with sentence structure. It is designed for Y5 children but could be adapted to suit other year groups. It specifically focusses on AF5 and AF6 and aims to move children towards a secure level 3 in each of these AFs. The intervention lasts for 6 weeks.
