Ok, it wasn’t that bad, but it wasn’t that good. It is our longest hike yet though. I knew going into this that it might be a bit noisy. ATVs, dirt bikes, mountain bikes, firewood collectors, target shooters, and logging. We got all of those. The trail actually passed within 100 meters of an active logging site and the road we had to walk cut right through it. The hike ends on a muddy gravel road that encircles a DOT gravel shed. So far the ugliest end to a hike yet. In 9 Mile Hikes.

Wildwood Trail – MP 2 to 5. A quick in-town hike. Long ago I had the idea of hiking the Wildwood Trail bit by bit. When we starting hiking in November, it made sense to start over since I can’t remember what we’ve done thus far. FYI, we’re not doing so well at it, but I’m thinking we’ll complete it within a year of starting if we don’t just go do it all in one day sometime. We have 19 miles to go. In 5 to 9 Mile Hikes. Chinidere / Tomlike Mountains. This hiking thing is turning out to be pretty awesome. This was our first foray into the Cascade montane highlands (4673 ft. maximum) so we decided we could climb 2 peaks, Tomlike Mountain and Chinidere Mountain. Spectacular hike on a classic trail in the Columbia River Gorge. This hike is always wonderful. If you can get out there on a rainy weekday in the winter, you’ll only see a few people. On a hot summer day, it’s a bit crowded. It’s a nice flattish hike through some of the best scenery in the Gorge with (one of the most photogenic) waterfalls, cliffs, vistas, and ancient forests. There is a falling hazard too, so keep the kids close and dogs on a leash. In 0 to 5 Mile Hikes. Multnomah / Wahkeena Loop.
