Kutuma's Ramblings: August 2013
http://kutuma.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
About technology, useful stuff or whatever I come across during my day. Saturday, August 17, 2013. Automatically building a cache manifest file. HTML5 has the capability to work offline. And it allows you to cache files of your application on the browser by using a cache manifest. The question is, which files to cache? Simple applications, with an HTML file, a couple of JS and CSS files are not a problem. But as soon as you move to more complex applications, the number of files explodes. Found an import:...

About technology, useful stuff or whatever I come across during my day. Sunday, October 6, 2013. D3 drag and drop tree. I needed a heavily customizable drag and drop tree and I couldn't find one that really fit my needs, so I built one. It was also a great excuse to learn about D3. Although most of the work was messing with the quirks of drag and drop. More info and download at github. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Kutuma's Ramblings: Displaying discrete data in R
http://kutuma.blogspot.com/2014/02/displaying-discrete-data-in-r.html
About technology, useful stuff or whatever I come across during my day. Sunday, February 23, 2014. Displaying discrete data in R. Suppose you have a restaurant, and you do a survey where your customers can grade from 1 to 5 several aspects of that restaurant. The 1st 5 lines on your data will look something like:. To analise this data, what I would usually do is check the mean, standard deviation, maybe do some histograms, and maybe do a boxplot of the data. If you're using R. It also uses the reshape.

Agile Software Addiction: Speed is the unstated requirement
http://agilesoftwareaddiction.blogspot.com/2006/02/speed-is-unstated-requirement.html
Rants on agile software development and product design. Thursday, February 16, 2006. Speed is the unstated requirement. I hate unreadable code. So, whenever I see developers doing things like using StringBuffers instead of plain vanilla strings to make a couple of concatenations and tell me it’s to make the code run faster, I start to get nervous. And very ugly problems have been caused in the name of speed and scalability. Remember when everyone was high about distributed objects?

Agile Software Addiction: The "new" Small Business Server 2003
http://agilesoftwareaddiction.blogspot.com/2006/01/new-small-business-server-2003.html
Rants on agile software development and product design. Saturday, January 07, 2006. The "new" Small Business Server 2003. Today I've received an email from Microsoft about the new. Small Business Server 2003. Have they noticed it's 2006 already? This naming strategy worked when they were a fast company and wanted to make us feel we needed to upgrade. Now it just shows how slow and bloated they have become. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Agile Software Addiction: OLPC
http://agilesoftwareaddiction.blogspot.com/2007/10/olpc.html
Rants on agile software development and product design. Friday, October 26, 2007. I must admit that when I first heard about Negroponte's One Laptop Per Child. Program a few years ago I was a bit skeptic. But now I'm happy to report that the project seems to be thriving and that the new Give 1 Get 1. Idea might boost it even further. I've seen of the OS seem really weird, but I'll have to investigate that further. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Agile Software Addiction: A day in the life...
http://agilesoftwareaddiction.blogspot.com/2006/02/day-in-life.html
Rants on agile software development and product design. Thursday, February 09, 2006. A day in the life. This morning at work we discussed and sketched a class diagram and an entity diagram on the whiteboard. With hibernate we tend to think just on the class diagram, but some of us still need to think in tables. We used the eraser on the whiteboard and decided that we would implement those collections as hard coded enumerations and let our code generator handle the conversion from Java to ActionScript.
