Tuesday, November 20, 2012. Back to the Drawing Board. Well, it's that time of year again. Time to nestle into the studio and get into the designing mode. The deadline was bumped up a month so I have to start a little sooner this season. In the mean time, I am still waiting for the final strike-offs for the spring line. This is the first time I've have simultaneous lines to juggle. a bit tricky for a girl with tunnel vision. So here are a few details for my fabric fondling friends. These pods also utiliz...

Jane Sassaman's Idea Book: January 2012
http://sassaman.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 29, 2012. A Week of Contrasts. Wednesday I returned from a wonderful teaching trip to Florida. I had workshops in Sarasota, Naples and Lakeland. As always, the hospitality and camaraderie was amazing. One afternoon I got to visit the Naples Botanical Garden and this little display of Air Plants was fascinating! They were simply suspended on weighted fish lines. Each one had a personality of its own. They looked like weird and wonderful pieces of jewelry. Look at the movement in this one!

Jane Sassaman's Idea Book: February 2012
http://sassaman.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Sunday, February 26, 2012. I showed you this sneak preview a few weeks ago. The piece is finished and I will share it with you now. It is almost a whole cloth quilt, but not quite. Sometimes a fabric is so pretty that it deserves to be left alone to make a statement all by itself. So the body of the quilt is a selvedge to selvedge cut of the plum Primrose Posy fabric from the Early Birds. Collection for Free Spirit. The print is large and graphic, but also very feminine. Perhaps I'll see you in class!

Saturday, August 11, 2012. A Rainy Day At Last! It is a delightfully dark and rainy day as I do the countdown for the Festival of Quilts. In Birmingham, England next week. The forecast predicts that it may be raining there, too. If so, I will be prepared because my wonderful Susan has whipped up this fabulous raincoat! It is made, of course, with the Early Birds. I love this photograph! Susan looks very mysterious. like a character in a Miss Marple story! It started to rain just as we finished shooting.

Jane Sassaman's Idea Book: Second Wind
http://sassaman.blogspot.com/2012/10/second-wind.html
Saturday, October 6, 2012. Well, I'm back. It has been a busy year. The large landmarks are writing a book, a month teaching in Australia, attending the Festival of Quilts and visiting the Victoria and Albert Museum. In September I had three teaching jobs. This quilter needed some quiet time. Plus autumn is a natural season for reflection. I have been steadily adding quilted leaves to my quilt. I can do a row a day, both sewing and burying threads. Just five more rows to go. This is very ther...Today I w...

Monday, May 28, 2012. Summer is rushing forward! Greg has been cleaning, clearing, trimming and planting. This is the first time he has planted radishes. Aren't they gorgeous? The tomatoes are in the ground and the basil is waiting its turn. These lovely pansies were a party favour for the May birthday celebration for the Chicago School of Fusing. I love these gatherings! So much talent and friendship in one place! Look at all these happy "women of the cloth"! Monday, May 14, 2012. Guess Where I've Been.
