Laura en Latinoamérica

Monday, 8 April 2013. Journal, March 25. I do not exaggerate the plight of Afro-Peruvian women in order to victimize them; nor do I want to romanticize their lives and paint them as being happy despite their poverty. Being honest about the enormity of their challenges makes their success all the more impressive. One of my principal questions going into t...

Laura in Liberia, 2008

Monday, September 1, 2008. Leaving Liberia (or, "Why Liberia? Laura in London

The blog of an American student studying in London. Wednesday, December 1, 2010. And receive a shout of "Come on, you Rs! In return, accompanied by booing from the Cardiff City fans in the crowds. It was freezing, drizzling, and the area around Loftus Field was composed of run-down council housing, so the mass amounts of chavs I saw screaming profanity at each other wasn't surprising. Sorry, even I couldn't say that with a straight face. Not much of any importance happened that day beyond starting to con...
