Laura Vanderbeek: April 2014
http://lauravanderbeek.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 10, 2014. Spring tilling and tender mercies. Because we took an amazing vacation to Florence, Oregon and Crescent City, California for spring break I really got behind on my garden. I kept thinking I would just ask my neighbor to till it while I was gone. Totally forgot. Ugh. Call it a coincidence if you want but I know it is a tender mercy from a loving Savior who knew I was busy in the service of others and doing the best I could. I was even able to get the organic fertilizer on th...
Laura Vanderbeek: What new plants are going in my garden this year?
http://lauravanderbeek.blogspot.com/2014/03/what-new-plants-are-going-in-my-garden.html
Monday, March 03, 2014. What new plants are going in my garden this year? Sage is the newest member of my garden. Last fall I called my husband's grandmother to get her recipe for Thanksgiving dressing (bread crumbs, sage, milk, celery, onion, salt). It was delicious and I knew I could make a gluten free, dairy free version. I loved the sage so much that I decided to try growing some this year. Beeks by the Lake. Laura Vanderbeek: Soil Testing my row garden and square foot gardens
http://lauravanderbeek.blogspot.com/2014/03/soil-testing-my-row-garden-and-square.html
Monday, March 03, 2014. Soil Testing my row garden and square foot gardens. This video goes through preparing the soil for the test. Make sure you dig 4 inches down to collect the soil. The results are in the photos. Have any of you ever tried to change the alkalinity of your soil. I'm afraid if I add sand, I'll end up with cement. Https:/ www.youtube.com/watch? Saturday, March 15, 2014. You harvest what you plant whether its in your garden or in life. If you haven't planted garlic before, please don't be afraid of it. It is wonderful and easy to grow. In the Fall (after your garden had been tilled). 1 separate the pieces of the bulb. 2 plant the larger pieces (there's no decision making with hard neck garlic because all the cloves are large). 3 dig a trench about 3 or 4 inches deep. 4 space the cloves 3 inches apart. 5 cover the cloves with soil. The Daily, wee...

A Diva Who Traded Her High Heels for a Kitchen Garden. Saturday, June 29, 2013. Here's a few of my visitors. The squirrels were the first to visit of course. They will sit and eat until they're about to explode. A peck on the window will send them away if they get too greedy. The blue jays haven't found it yet. In the second picture, they are feeding where I had the feeder originally. A cardinal and his mate have found it as well. Do you feed the birds? What backyard visitors do you get? There's conflict...
A Diva's Garden: Vegetable Garden Fencing
http://adivasgarden.blogspot.com/2012/03/vegetable-garden-fencing.html
A Diva Who Traded Her High Heels for a Kitchen Garden. Wednesday, March 14, 2012. I decided to expand my garden this year. Last year it was 10 x 20, and was somewhat crowed with what I planted. This year I'm going to till a 25 x 25 or 30 x 30 area and fence it in similar to the picture shown. We're putting up 250 feet of privacy fencing, so I thought I would fence the garden as well. I would love to hear what you think about one method over the other. I will definitely incorporate the arbor, stepping sto...

A Diva Who Traded Her High Heels for a Kitchen Garden. Monday, September 2, 2013. How to Determine When Watermelons Are Ripe. I harvested my Sugar Baby watermelons, and they are delicious. Sorry I only put in one plant this year. Next year, 2 - 3 plants will find their way into the garden. They're the perfect size to place in the fridge and just enough to share. I'll manage to harvest enough to place in the freezer for chili and salsa, but no pickled peppers this season. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I dec...

Monday, December 8, 2008. We made the news! What are the odds of this happening with 21,000 people in the audience? Jason just got a text from a friend that told him his picture was on Deseretnews. Com this morning. Thanks to my great friend Mindy who wasn't able to use her tickets, Jeron. And I, Jason and Stephanie, and my parents got to go to the First Presidency's Christmas Devotional. Last night in SLC. There were three pictures on Deseretnews. Was kind to take the little boys home and let Jeron.

Sunday, June 5, 2011. Local Seminar June 5, 2011. This weekend I had the privilege of listening to Doug Nelson speak to our Market America team. The local seminars are always good and I'm able to apply what I learn to not only my Market America business, but to my personal training business as well. This particular Saturday I felt especially convicted. Have I put my dreams on the back-burner? How much different would the world be? The list could go on and on. Would there even be wars or famines?
