To cross the country back to Santiago we will be taking another overnight bus journey to Mendoza and this time it is a First Class seat so that should be interesting. After a few days there it is on to Santiago to catch the plane out on 17 April and land in Australia a couple of days later. View my complete profile.

We made it to Chile safe and sound and had an interesting day checking out the tourist sites today. The photo is the hill of St Lucia which is a small volcanic plug close to the centre of town which is a park with some beautiful colonial architecture. We tried out the local speciality of Mote con huesillos which turned out to be soaked wheat in peach syrup, not bad suprisingly. Meet home stay family.

Sunday, May 10, 2009. 2009 - "Houston, we have a problem.". It appears that the old oligo is misbehaving! The MRI and PET scans that we scheduled three months ago, after some uncertainty in January, have uncovered two new issues. First, it is clear that the oligo has grown when compared to images from two years ago. Second, it is now touching the Corpus Callosum and if it invades that structure it will become inoperable. Luckily, indications are that it has not turned malignant. Updated: 15 May 2009.

May 2014 will be the five-year anniversary of my last surgery.That's heaps better than the paltry two and a half years I got out of the previous operation in 2006. Tuesday, October 03, 2006. Chantel's is officially in remission! I took Chantel up to Whistler to celebrate for a couple of days post her final chemo (we did not know at that time that she would be done treatment for now). Chantel had her chemo session on September 7th. She had a CT scan the following week and a PET scan last Friday. We received the news from her Doctor yesterday that she will not need to do any radiation therapy as the chemo appears to have done the trick. Thanks to all of you again!
