Ailes de Verre: December 2010
http://melaniehoyt.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 31, 2010. 30 Days of Skating. I'll edit in some photos later, if I get an internet signal again in Detroit. I'm currently on a train leaving Chicago, and I have mobile 4G for my computer, but the signal will probably die shortly. Day 11: Who are your five favourite men’s skaters? Coincidentally, I'm wearing a Harvard sweatshirt right now. Most of the reason why I've spent most of my life fascinated with Harvard is because P-Dub went there. Labels: 30 days of skating. Why i love challenge.

Ailes de Verre: May 2010
http://melaniehoyt.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 26, 2010. This spring, I started working the early shift twice a week, unloading shipment and stocking shelves. It's tough to get up so early, but I love the feeling of leaving work in mid-morning, when everyone else is tucked away in their office cubicles and the tourists haven't descended upon the city yet. It's extra nice when a splash of colour greets me just a few steps north of my store:. As if the tulips weren't enough, there were daffodils blooming in the West Loop. We'd appreciate...

Ailes de Verre: September 2009
http://melaniehoyt.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, September 2, 2009. I'm so sporadic with this blog. In my defense, shortly after my last post, I embarked on a fantastic adventure. I spent two weeks photographing figure skating events in Ottawa and Lake Placid. I went to Montréal. For less than eight hours. I saw friends - both old and new, took over 50,000 photos (ah, the life of a sports photographer.going to need a new shutter soon! Laughed until the wee hours of the morning most nights, survived attacks from giant spiders and a batlike.

Ailes de Verre: 2011, european heaven (pt 2)
http://melaniehoyt.blogspot.com/2011/12/2011-european-heaven-pt-2.html
Tuesday, December 20, 2011. 2011, european heaven (pt 2). Picking up where I left off with my last entry, here's the 2nd third of 2011! Other than that, I think I mainly stayed inside and planned for the Europe trip! I also treated myself to brunch at the Bongo Room on my actual birthday, and then I went to Toronto for Sixth Annual Birthday Weekend with Jules and Christina. The show was awesome! With more entries still to come. So in here, I will pick one photo per day to post. June 17: Arrive in London,...

Ailes de Verre: April 2010
http://melaniehoyt.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, April 21, 2010. 2010 has been a great year so far. I've already made some fabulous memories and quite honestly, being at the Olympics was a lifetime dream come true. I'm really not that old, so I consider myself a very lucky girl. But amid all of the excitement and happiness that 2010 has brought, I've also been suffering from a lack of inspiration and confidence. Last night, we workshopped half of the exercises, including mine. And guess what! This is certainly a photo I'm proud of, and I've ...

Ailes de Verre: November 2009
http://melaniehoyt.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, November 3, 2009. So, does anyone read Things I Bought That I Love. It's Mindy Kaling's blog—she plays Kelly on The Office. However, occasionally, I buy something that is so fantastic that I am able to enjoy it freely after only, like, maybe a week of shopper's guilt. This is a huge victory for me, and I feel so awesome about these purchases that I just have to tell people. Black Corduroy Jacket, Smart Set. First of all, I totally love Smart Set. Green Walnut Masque, Warren Tricomi.

Ailes de Verre: 2011, european heaven (pt 3)
http://melaniehoyt.blogspot.com/2012/01/2011-european-heaven-pt-3.html
Sunday, January 8, 2012. 2011, european heaven (pt 3). And almost within the first week of 2012, I'm ready to finish recapping the rest of 2011. I hope I'm this on the ball all year long. What's a better way to kick off September than a Labor Day weekend celebration of amazing food with two fabulous friends? I sure don't know, so I was thrilled that Christina and Jules came to Chicago to visit me! Jules poses at the park in Oak Park before house-hunting. She plans to move into this house. In mid-October,...

Sunday, August 14, 2011. Growing With Your Favorites. I'm glad I finally managed to put "Lying Days" on my read shelf. It helps me see Gordimer's transformation and growth as a writer more clearly. It gives me motivation to sludge through my first novel and the ambition to see past that novel and on to the next one. I have several more of her early works to read still and hope I can break into them faster than I did "Lying Days.". Labels: In the life of. Monday, August 8, 2011. A Big Birthday Post. In my...
