Random thoughts of a recent law school graduate. Saturday, November 1, 2008. I know I can't do much to help from Arkansas but here's hoping there are enough sensible voters in California defeat Proposition 8. This fight may actually be more important than the fight against Initiated Act 1 in Arkansas. Labels: initiated act 1. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). My Daily Must-Read Blogs. Business Law Prof Blog. LawHog: The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Amendment
http://lawhog.blogspot.com/2008/10/arkansas-scholarship-lottery-amendment.html
Random thoughts of a recent law school graduate. Monday, October 6, 2008. The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Amendment. There are many applications of Lewis' wisdom, but none so obvious to me at the moment than the fight being waged against Arkansas' lottery amendment by the Arkansas Family Council. I Omission of Material Provision. The FC's first contention is that the ballot title is misleading fails to tell the voters that they are voting yes or no to repeal an existing constitutional provision and repl...

LawHog: June 2008
http://lawhog.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html
Random thoughts of a recent law school graduate. Monday, June 30, 2008. First Successful Appeal of Designation as Enemy Combatant. The federal government experienced its first smackdown by the federal courts, Lewis Carroll style, regarding its ability to classify certain detainees as "enemy combatants." The appeal was brought by Huzaifa Parhat, a Chinese Uighur. Fast-forwarding through, mostly irrelevant, procedural issues, the Parhat. Following the Supreme Court's ruling in Boumediene v. Bush. We will s...

LawHog: Obama Youth = Hitler Youth?
http://lawhog.blogspot.com/2008/10/obama-youth-hitler-youth.html
Random thoughts of a recent law school graduate. Sunday, October 5, 2008. Obama Youth = Hitler Youth? I can't say I'd go so far as some by comparing these kids with the Hitler Youth, but good grief these videos are truly disturbing. I know Obama went through a phase of self-deification (and I'm not entirely sure that's over) but this is just over the top. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). My Daily Must-Read Blogs. LawHog: If... (Weeks 5 and 6)
http://lawhog.blogspot.com/2008/10/if-weeks-5-and-6.html
Random thoughts of a recent law school graduate. Wednesday, October 1, 2008. If (Weeks 5 and 6). I'm trying desperately to catch up but I've said that before. No telling if I ever will. But, here are Weeks 5 and 6 of the "If." project started by Nick. Then attempted by me here. Nick seems entirely too together, posting regularly and all that. Jody is more my speed, falling behind then trying like hell to make up for the time lost. Anyway, here are the next eight questions. I would be perfectly content be...

LawHog: September 2008
http://lawhog.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Random thoughts of a recent law school graduate. Monday, September 29, 2008. Scary Moment of the Week. We're adults. When did that happen? And how do we make it stop? Ok, enough of the melancholy. I've got to head home to my cable and internet-less house. Wow, this weekend was exhausting. More good than bad, but the bad was pretty damn bad. Just for a quick run-through of the trip first. For the record, it blows Willy D's in Fayetteville out of the water as far as atmosphere and pure talent. For dinner&#...

http://lawhog.blogspot.com/2008/09/after-austin.html
Random thoughts of a recent law school graduate. Monday, September 29, 2008. Wow, this weekend was exhausting. More good than bad, but the bad was pretty damn bad. Just for a quick run-through of the trip first. Thursday night, my friend and I dropped in with a couple of friends who recently moved to Ft. Worth. We hit up a few places downtown, including Pete's Dueling Piano Bar. For the record, it blows Willy D's in Fayetteville out of the water as far as atmosphere and pure talent. From there, I went to...

LawHog: NOM...nom nom
http://lawhog.blogspot.com/2009/04/nomnom-nom.html
Random thoughts of a recent law school graduate. Monday, April 13, 2009. A part of me wants to think the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) is just some sham group created by some renegade gay rights group with the goal of undermining the anti-marriage equality forces. The other part of me thinks that the right wing fundies are actually dumb enough to come up with this stuff. Let's consider the evidence. The group's acronym is NOM.
