Learning librarianship

Hello, I'm a student of LIS living for the chance to experience something different in every adventure. I'm currently stuck in the city completing my required hours of library work. My other stuff are available at:. Library promotional materials (5). Should it stay or should it go? Well, this is my first time exercising my judgment on what books to weed out! My first pile of books. Books that are too “battered.”. Books that have nothing to do with Asia. Books that are outdated. 8230;this Sanskrit book.

Should it stay or should it go? Today I thought I was just going to put books in the iLib like I normally would, but Ma’am Tacs gave me something new to do. Putting books in the iLib | Learning librarianship

https://learninglibrarianship.wordpress.com/2013/09/20/putting-books-in-the-ilib

Putting books in the iLib. I really like this part because it means I’m almost done! And I like this part too because it means the book I worked on is already in the iLib. I’ve been reviewing the New Acquisitions portion and I was surprised to find out that 19 pages of that belong to me. I didn’t realize that I was working on a lot of books! Update (October 2, 2013). Can I have your call number? | Learning librarianship

Can I have your call number? Today I did things that I have never done before. I’m not really sure what this picture looks like, but I cut through the tapes of a book to attach its new call number! This whole thing brought a number of firsts for me, because:. I have never had the need to tear through a book’s plastic cover. I have never written a call number on a sticker. I have never attached a call number sticker to a book! Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window). Shooting at the Asian Center.

Back after a looooong break. I haven’t worked at the Asian Center Library for quite a long time but now I’m back! I explained to Mr. Liwanag my reasons for my long absence and I’m glad that despite that he immediately gave me something to do. This task is probably the hardest I’ve done in this library so far, not because it’s really hard but because it requires you to pay attention both physically and mentally. I mean, it’s not okay to be clumsy when you’re given a task like t...Click to share on Pintere...

The Learning Librarian - Home

Thoughts on Working in Libraries. Year End Review - 2016. From February 2016 to January 2017, we were short the full-time Public Services and Programming Librarian position. There were patches in there when we were also short a part-time Circulation Assistant. With a FTE of 5, being that short staffed is a huge drain. I spent much of my time running the front desk and shelving, not working on administrative and leadership projects. 2016 was the year of surviving. Around December, I was discouraged becaus...

Personal memories of libraries. January 7, 2015 · 1:06 pm. 2015 beckons with excitement. A week of 2015 has passed. Already! This was my Tweet-of-the-morning, this morning. (Will I ever get past micro blogging and onto more serious blogging? Hubby took me on a lovely holiday-cum-sort-out-our-storage break in South Africa. There was fun and laughter, family and friends. And tears for the emotional moments. Like finding this…. Our first date…. My dad…proud as punch with his grandson. I guess this blog will...

Friday, March 28, 2008. Wednesday, June 27, 2007. 23 is my lucky number. Plus, I am feeling like a panting dog with my tongue hanging out just racing to the end of this Learning 2.0 treadmill! I could have used another 3 weeks, but what can you do? My least favororite discovery was wikis. I don't think I will be needing to create one in the forseeable future. Would I participate in another Learning 2.0 journey? Just let me catch my breath first. Something I can use! Http:/ www.youtube.com/watch? We can't...

What a school thinks about its library is a measure of what it feels about education. 8203;- Harold Howe. Reflecting again: Risky, Messy Media. Risk taking and messy engagement. There are many ways to look at risk taking when it comes to education. We take risks as authors, as creators, when we break boundaries and escape our comfort areas. We can also take risks as educators when it comes to allowing students to follow paths that may have questionable content. Taking risks is always scary! But though I ...
