Here We Are. . .: We Made It!
http://mscartersclassroommcs.blogspot.com/2014/02/we-made-it.html
Here We Are. . . Monday, February 10, 2014. After 36 hours of travel we arrived in Awassa safe and sound! The journey was incredibly smooth with absolutely no glitches. We flew on Emirates Airlines which was actually very positive and rather enjoyable. They fed us well and often and, for the first time in a long while, I was able to read an entire book in one sitting! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Here We Are. . .: Pre-School
http://mscartersclassroommcs.blogspot.com/2014/02/we-visited-naget-kokeb-pre-school.html
Here We Are. . . Wednesday, February 26, 2014. We visited the Naget Kokeb pre-school. We were met with songs, laughter, pride and Coffee Ceremony! Three years ago, there was no school here, but Elizabeth has worked tirelessly to make this a reality. There is no water on this campus for these four and five year old children. This project feels like a priority on our return. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Today At Negat Kobek. Awesome Inc. theme. Powered by Blogger.

Here We Are. . .: Ethiopian Wedding
http://mscartersclassroommcs.blogspot.com/2014/02/ethiopian-wedding.html
Here We Are. . . Sunday, February 16, 2014. We had the great fortune to be invited to an Ethiopian wedding yesterday. We were told that it was a mixture of a traditional and modern wedding. It was held in the courtyard of the Zeru family with an abundance of traditional Ethiopian food, drink, music and dancing. Our Ethiopian friends have been trying (without a lot of success) to teach us the Eskesta. The day was filled with much joy and laughter. It was a true honor to be a guest at this beautiful wedding.

http://mscartersclassroommcs.blogspot.com/2014/02/girls-club.html
Here We Are. . . Saturday, February 15, 2014. Today at school we participated in "clubs". While these clubs take place during the school day, they might be what we consider "extra curricular activities". The main focus today was Girls Club. Here girls learn various hand crafts. Many of them will sell these crafts at the market to help support their families. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Today At Negat Kobek. Awesome Inc. theme. Here We Are. . .: Ethiopia Bound
http://mscartersclassroommcs.blogspot.com/2014/02/ethiopia-bound.html
Here We Are. . . Wednesday, February 5, 2014. On a hot summer day last year I was at the Ceres boat rolling event and overheard a couple of teachers, along with David Schein, talking about an exchange between Addison County and Awassa Ethiopia teachers. My interest was immediately peeked and I not so subtly asked if they needed/wanted any other teachers to be involved. Much to my great happiness they said yes. And there my adventure began! Here We Are. . .: Saturday
http://mscartersclassroommcs.blogspot.com/2014/02/saturday.html
Here We Are. . . Saturday, February 15, 2014. Ahh A day of rest. We started with coffee and a walk around the neighborhood. We then ventured out to Tedelech's house. Tedelech is a teacher from Negat Kokeb who has been incredibly open and generous with us at every moment. Her home and family were beautiful and she prepared the most delicious Ethiopian food we have had yet! There were many traditional dishes and it was evident that she spent a great deal of time and energy to honor us. Today At Negat Kobek.
