http://selfdefense-experts.blogspot.com/2014/01/empowerment.html
The ABC's of Self Defense. Monday, January 27, 2014. Empowerment literally means the giving or delegation of power or authority; authorization. We are basically giving ourselves permission of said power or authority…mainly over ourselves. In today’s times, to be empowered…is to have and demonstrate confidence. Where does this confidence come from? Any activity or endeavor that we excel at, we become empowered first within the realm of that thing that we mastered. This affects our every day life in such a...

The ABC's of Kyusho: Focus
http://markklinekyusho.blogspot.com/2014/02/focus.html
The ABC's of Kyusho. Monday, February 3, 2014. How does Focus apply to Kyusho? It applies on many levels. Firstly, Understanding the pressure points of the body give you actual targeting. Take Stomach 5 for example. Once you can find it by touching it, hitting it or simulating the hitting of this point, becomes a skill that is much easier to pull off for real. You first start shooting while stationary. Eventually you must do the same things while moving…right? There is extreme strength when used together.

The ABC's of Kyusho: Basics

The ABC's of Kyusho. Tuesday, January 14, 2014. IMO, they are a the foundations for all other techniques, regardless of activity. Advanced techniques are a collection of basics linked together in different ways. Once you are comfortable with these so called advanced techniques, they really don’t seem so advanced. I had a student almost 20 years ago that was about 13 years old. His mother was a nurse. It was not stopping. Byron saw this and said, “No mom! Press on the back on the head! And in daily life.

The ABC's of Kyusho: Dynamic(s)
http://markklinekyusho.blogspot.com/2014/01/dynamics.html
The ABC's of Kyusho. Monday, January 20, 2014. Kyusho is a dynamic art, yet has to be practiced slowly at first for accuracy, control, and safety, much like anything else that you want to be good at. Back in the 80’s when we first started learning Kyusho, it was practiced in a very static manner. Our opponent / partner would stand there and let us hit them. This gave us the confidence for that accuracy, control, and safety. This eventually evolved into “ Kyusho on the move. Self Defense is dynamic.

http://markklinekyusho.blogspot.com/2014/01/education-we-have-always-heard-growing.html
The ABC's of Kyusho. Monday, January 27, 2014. We have always heard growing up that without an education, we can’t go far in life. What kind of education? Is this a formal education where you go to school, learn facts and figures or is it an experiential education where you learn by doing? For me…it is both. We obviously need to study math, reading, writing, etc. , but for what? Each part of our education is a small part of the whole. They had the drive to learn, to study….to question. As martial artists,.

The ABC's of Kyusho: Groove
http://markklinekyusho.blogspot.com/2014/02/groove.html
The ABC's of Kyusho. Monday, February 10, 2014. Getting into a groove with training, is especially true for Kyusho. There is a certain rhythm that one gets into, not only with the frequency of training. But during the training itself. We call this, “getting into a groove.”. The body cannot move quickly in 2 different directions. The muscles must “regroup” before exploding again. This is vitally important in any self defense training. Next time you are training pay attention to this.

The ABC's of Kyusho. Monday, February 17, 2014. When either defending and then attacking Kyusho points. Or simultaneously defending and attacking points.it is imperative to do so by understanding body movement, rythm, and timing. I'm not saying that you cannot.just saying that it is not effective nor fast. This way I get more bang for my buck and every movement is a possible strike. If the opponent falls down on the retraction of my hand.then voila! Time for a beer! Our goal as martial artists. Is to do ...
