Tuesday, July 26, 2011. Outlet Malls and Bird Shit. Isn't there some kind of saying? Sometimes you're the bird. sometimes you're the American girl eating gazpacho in the shade at an outdoor cafe.". Centro comercial = shopping mall. My Friday had. well. let's just say ups and downs. But what my afternoon lacked in an absence of bird shit on my shoulder and arm (sigh. yes, twice. Well I mean. it does. But that's just the way the expat cookie crumbles. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Jetsettera: August 2010
http://jetsettera.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Thursday, August 12, 2010. There's this scene in my very favorite movie,. Some Like It Hot. And WHERE did you get that accent? Nobody talks like that! I feel that this is an ominous start to the day. Optimists might say that there's nowhere else for this day to go but up, but find me a woman who's still an optimist after spending nine hours in an over-air-conditioned cubicle with soaking wet pants that obviously won't dry because. She's still in them*. And I'll show you a filthy, filthy liar. Well, truth...

Jetsettera: February 2010

Wednesday, February 24, 2010. I put on my borrowed embassy abaya over my jeans and and tank, and fastened my headscarf under my chin and around my hair. Adam and I left his house and got into a motorpool car. The car whisked us out of the diplomatic quarter and onto a highway. We sped past juice bars, fast food restaurants with funny logos (a hamburger with legs, mid-run! A government building shaped like a spaceship, and a giant store selling nothing but chandeliers. Jetsettera: January 2010
http://jetsettera.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, January 30, 2010. It's snowing sideways in DC right now. It's absolutely beautiful. Or rather, at "feels like" 5°F with windchill, it's beautiful to watch while indoors. Probably should have taken these inside before. Winter hit and they turned into snowcones. Recipe for that and for mulled wine to come in the next few days.). So for you east coasters, I hope you're toasty-warm and cuddled up on your couches with your sweeties (or your roommates. and some mulled wine). Happy Snow Day, lovelies!

Friday, March 26, 2010. I love those flavored almonds, like Blue Diamond brand makes these amazing, amazing. Wasabi and Soy flavored almonds that I used to snack on at Adam's place before we lived together. I wanted to try making my own seasoned nuts, and when going through my backlogged stack of Cooking Light magazines, I stumbled upon a recipe for Rosemary Roasted Almonds. I just had to try it. I still recommend the recipe (they're so delicious! The recipe calls for 10 ounces of almonds, but I could on...

Jetsettera: September 2009
http://jetsettera.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Monday, September 28, 2009. Well, I'm back from a lovely trip to California to visit my parents, my sister, her cat, and a wedding venue, as well as to shop and to eat myself stupid. I won't be posting a recipe today, or probably for a little while, for two reasons:. 1) Like an idiot, I left my camera in California. Mom and dad are sending it by mail. 2) More importantly, I just don't feel. Bear with me, guys - this too, shall pass. Links to this post. Wednesday, September 16, 2009. Which I totally would...

Bits of daily life in the grand Iberian Capital. Sunday, March 10, 2013. By the time I'd zoomed in several times, the photo didn't come out great; but you get the idea. Two animals looking down on us from the very top of the ridgeline. They stood in place for quite a while and allowed us to take pictures and get out the binoculars as well. I'm not positive, but I think these are Western Spanish Ibex, a somewhat rare breed of mountain goat. Photo below of the they look like close up. Friday, March 8, 2013.

Bits of daily life in the grand Iberian Capital. Monday, April 15, 2013. Cross country bus travel in the US is accomplished by the riding the 'hound. Greyhound that is. In Ireland one can cross the country by bus as well. But you'll take that journey in a bus adorned with an red Irish Setter. So I suppose that means that your bus ride in the US will be faster, but the ride in Ireland will be better to accompany you on a hunt. Or is better for hugs. Sure, we'll go with that.
