A View From Rural Wales: August 2015
http://glyn-davies.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, August 29, 2015. Where now with Renewables subsidies. I've never enjoyed saying "I told you so". Actually, the thought usually annoys me. That's how I feel reading through DECC's newly published 'Consultation on Feed-in-Tariffs'. Arising out of my noisy opposition to National Grid's Mid Wales Connection Project, I've warned about cost of subsidies for renewables running out of control for years. So let's start with this aspect of the debate. Links to this post. Friday, August 28, 2015. During t...
A View From Rural Wales: The Budget.
http://glyn-davies.blogspot.com/2015/07/the-budget.html
Thursday, July 09, 2015. There will be losers in today's budget - inevitable when reducing the annual deficit from £80bn to balance. Most people in Britain will accept that today was necessary. It was what the Conservatives promised the people before they voted on May 7th. We do not want to end up like Greece, and after today, we very definitely will not. Thu Jul 09, 07:31:00 am. Friend not only for attending the debate, but for making such an important and heartfelt contribution; I think that we all value that. I understand what he is saying about the opt-in system versus the opt-out system and the need to follow the evidence. However, does he agree that ultimately organ donation should be my choice? Tuesday, August 19, 2014. My Politically Speaking Column for County Times - 14th Aug. Links to this post. Great letter written by John Day, local Chair of Parkinsons UK. Parkinson's - It’s difficult to always look on the bright side of life. 8220;I was very saddened by the news that Robin Williams had died last week, he was a very talented actor and comedian who had the ability put a smile on the faces of people of all ages. He had been diagnosed with the early stages of Parkinson’s. In the UK we get out...
A View From Rural Wales: Another Mid Wales Connection Project 'Update'.
http://glyn-davies.blogspot.com/2015/07/i-had-promised-myself-i-would-allow.html
Thursday, July 02, 2015. Another Mid Wales Connection Project Update. Many people want to know when we can draw a line under this whole saga. Well, this I don't know. National Grid, who have I'm told largely, though not totally suspended work on the line still maintain it is contracted by developers to continue building. "Nothing to do with us mate"! But none of this makes much difference in Montgomeryshire, if there is no subsidy available for the wind farms. Dare say there will be lots of questions....
A View From Rural Wales: The Battle of the Strawberry Fields
http://glyn-davies.blogspot.com/2015/07/the-battle-of-strawberry-fields.html
Tuesday, July 07, 2015. The Battle of the Strawberry Fields. Many a great battle has been fought throughout the history of man in the gardens of the world. Great men have died to defend their crops from marauding intruders. One such great battle is being played out in our garden at Cil Farm at present. It's not possible to know who is going to prevail, but it's a fight to the death. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I am the Member of Parliament for Montgomeryshire. View my complete profile.

Wednesday, January 22, 2014. Lobbying and Transparency Bill. Its important for democracy that campaigning in elections is transparent and properly accounted for. Fundamentally, this Bill contains reforms to bring greater transparency and accountability to the political system. The measures in the Bill do not affect organisations who do not seek directly to influence the outcome of elections. Other key Government amendments to which the House agreed were:. 8226; Increasing the spending limits in Scotland,...
A View From Rural Wales: May 2014

Thursday, May 15, 2014. S4C and Welsh Identity debate. S4C and Welsh Identity. Glyn Davies (Montgomeryshire) (Con):. S4C and its link with cultural identity are hugely important in Wales and a matter on which there is a large measure of agreement across all parties and among all Welsh MPs. I would have liked to have had more Members from other parties present for the debate. Unfortunately, however, we clash with the Welsh Grand Committee, which meets at the same time. I realised I was Welsh to the core.
