Making a floating mortar platform 1 - The League of Augsburg
http://leagueofaugsburg.blogspot.com/2015/08/making-floating-mortar-platform-1.html
The League of Augsburg. Saturday, August 8, 2015. Making a floating mortar platform 1. Sometimes when you get an idea you just have to run with it. I wanted to get back to the kind of creativity which go the League of Augsburg a good reputation in the first place and I have not been able to find the time to indulge that for quite some time. I turned to the ubiquitous raw material which has appeared many times before in my scratch building - the humble cork dinner place mat (used). I was able to turn this.

Ireland Campaign book...remembering the Quick n' Dirty guides and Mark's Marsh! - The League of Augsburg

The League of Augsburg. Tuesday, August 11, 2015. Ireland Campaign book.remembering the Quick n' Dirty guides and Mark's Marsh! Set up shot for the book. Well actually it's a bog but Mark's Bog sounds like something to do with a toilet and doesn't scan too well! Years ago I did some Quick n' Dirty guides on the website concerning such things as making cotton flags, weathering clothes and similar wargaming distractions. Williamite troops ready themselves to face the BOG. Where are those damned raparees?

August 2014 - The League of Augsburg
http://leagueofaugsburg.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
The League of Augsburg. Saturday, August 30, 2014. Yet More AWI Flags. Ok eight more American sheets for the AWI. 3 Maryland and Delaware. 5 New England and Massachusetts. 6 New York and New Jersey. 8 Pennsylvania and Rhode Island. There are four categories:. 1 Known Regiments - these are famous. Green Mountain Boys, 7th Pennsylvania, etc. Ironically these are often famous because they were captured! 2 Known State Flags - these are documented for specific states, but the regiment is unknown. Long section...

Making a floating mortar platform 2 - The League of Augsburg
http://leagueofaugsburg.blogspot.com/2015/08/making-floating-mortar-platform-2.html
The League of Augsburg. Friday, August 14, 2015. Making a floating mortar platform 2. There was some degree of hit or miss with the making of this piece. I am too impatient to measure everything like a craftsman and tend to size things up by sight and judge it. As a result one or two distances are marginally off. I satisfied my OCD by making up the excuse that the Russians constructed the platform in haste and so did not themselves seek perfection, rather functionality. Although I was sorely tempted to g...

January 2015 - The League of Augsburg
http://leagueofaugsburg.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
The League of Augsburg. Saturday, January 31, 2015. Warfare Miniatures Scots Militia 1680-1719. H002 Scots Militia in mixed dress. Scotland has seen more than its fair share of conflict over the centuries. Often the violence has not been on the massed battle scale but sized more conveniently for we 21st century hobbyists who like our games more in the bijou style! A Highland laddie signed up for the Militia. Highland or Lowland dress - trews could be painted tear-tain. To fill yet another gap in the figu...

Soldiers of Killiecrankie - The Horse - The League of Augsburg

The League of Augsburg. Thursday, August 6, 2015. Soldiers of Killiecrankie - The Horse. In this post you'll see some fantastic pictures of the small but very authentic and energetic group of equestrian re enactors representing the Earl of Dunfermline's Gentlemen Volunteers serving with Dundee at Killiecrankie. An unusual view of the Horse. Officer of Horse about t decapitate a red cabbage on a pole! Advancing at the walk. Loading a pistol whilst mounted looks tricky. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

July 2014 - The League of Augsburg
http://leagueofaugsburg.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
The League of Augsburg. Monday, July 28, 2014. Warfare Miniatures Great Northern War Range :Command charging in tricorne. This code is the most dynamic so far. The sculpts are in my opinion right at the apex of wargaming figure design. The pack consists of a senior officer, an ensign, a junior officer, a sergeant and a drummer. This is the standard mix in Warfare Miniatures command packs. The junior officer is youthful and energetic. He is an obvious candidate for a battalion colour. Friday, July 25, 2014.

The League of Augsburg. Tuesday, August 4, 2015. Claymore 2015. Zippin' up ma' boots and goin' back to ma' roots. yeah! LoA 1720 White Death game at Claymore - Donnybrook with boats. Having bared the soul in the Fighting Talk therapy column of Wargames Illustrated's last issue concerning my attitudes to shows, I was determined that Claymore 2015 would be a reboot of what got me into show demos in the first place. Claymore was the very first wargaming convention I displayed a game at. My point is this, I ...

July 2015 - The League of Augsburg
http://leagueofaugsburg.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
The League of Augsburg. Friday, July 31, 2015. Thought showers. How I get my ideas Part 1. The scratch-built Mortar Platform. Now if there is a phrase I particularly dislike it is 'thought shower'. It ranks with 24-7, tipping point, embedded and paradigm shift all of which are equally cringe making. Merchantman rigged for wargaming! I also wanted to use my newly finished ships and so. Make in Deutschland, bought in Belgium, painted in Alba. The first was to put some of the new Great Northern War Swedes in...

Building a Wargames Army, Part 7 - Earl of Clanrickarde's Foot - The League of Augsburg
http://leagueofaugsburg.blogspot.com/2015/08/building-wargames-army-part-7-earl-of.html
The League of Augsburg. Saturday, August 1, 2015. Building a Wargames Army, Part 7 - Earl of Clanrickardes Foot. It's been a long time since I've been able to participate here (or in wargaming in general). I'm not ready yet to commit to regular posts, but I did manage to finish this unit today (I started it around January 2015). As I mentioned when I put forth my earlier plan for the army. They were reinforced by the Irish Foot Guards but were forced to fall back after a stubborn defensive effort. Stunni...
