June saw the arrival of Jess and Sam, who were lucky to have a week of sunshine in what was turning out to be a very unpredictable summer. Autumn was very quick to descend this year and by ea...

Lessons in French: White to green

http://lessonsinfrenchbysallyandbrad.blogspot.com/2012/02/white-to-green.html

Monday, 27 February 2012. Ironically, it is a legal requirement that householders clear and salt the pavement outside their properties. It seems as if I have talked about nothing but the weather for the last month and so I shall now switch to my other favourite subject, the bar! Location: La Chapelle-Thireuil, France. Lessons in French: Le Grand Froid

http://lessonsinfrenchbysallyandbrad.blogspot.com/2012/02/le-grand-froid.html

Wednesday, 8 February 2012. The big freeze continues to hold us in it's icy grasp, with two thirds of the country on 'Vigilance Orange' for extreme low temperatures. It has indeed been bone-chilling, certainly colder than I have ever known. So much for moving to France for a milder climate! He trotted into view, a nice fat pheasant wedged firmly in his jaws! Lessons in French: October 2011

http://lessonsinfrenchbysallyandbrad.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 25 October 2011. On the edge of a breakdown . . . . We saw a resurgence of summer this month, with unseasonably high temperatures of up to 30C in early October. Our trusty above-ground pool was once more a godsend and the tower fan, which had been removed from the bedroom and stored in the garage found it's way back upstairs once again. There are not many things in life more expensive than a French taxi ride, our bill for about a 30 minute journey was over 100 Euros. Fortunately, the bill wa...

Lessons in French: The First Snow

http://lessonsinfrenchbysallyandbrad.blogspot.com/2012/01/first-snow.html

Tuesday, 31 January 2012. We have wondered for a while when we would be made to pay for the mild winter we have enjoyed thus far. I had heard rumblings of artic weather last week, however on Friday I found this a little difficult to believe when I was sitting in the garden in shorts and t-shirt sipping an iced drink! The weather forecasters had clearly done their homework however and the cold snap duly arrived on our doorstep at the weekend. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

Lessons In Grandeur

Link to Lessonsingrandeur main website. Sunday, August 19, 2012. Richtersveld: Gannakouriep to Springbok. Packing up was a lot easier this time, with no need to pack up stretchers, tents, gazebo, and all the cooking paraphernalia. With all the low gear driving in the park, my fuel consumption indicator was showing a consumption rate inside the park 30% - 40% higher than normal road consumption. Richtersveld: Hint of sun. And the...
