http://carynska.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, March 11, 2015. So uh yeah, we bought a house! Okay, not quite, but we're very very. Close Maybe I should back up a bit? At the beginning of this year, my husband and I finally agreed that we were ready to get our own house (read: I finally talked him into it). We started poking around on Zillow (here's a link. To their homepage, if you are interested), just to see what was on the market. So what did we do? At 1:45 we were parked in front of the house, nervously wondering what the protocol was...

Things I'm Doing...: January 2015
http://carynska.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, January 10, 2015. What I Read in 2014. Okay, I know it's taken me a little bit longer, but I've finally put together my list of books that I read in 2014! This is becoming somewhat of an annual tradition for me, and I really enjoy the opportunity to look back and reflect on what I've read over the last year. Favorite GN (graphic novel) series I finished this year: Preacher by Garth Ennis, and you can read all about why I loved it in my Librarian's Corner. Favorite book by new author: Smoke Gets...

http://carynska.blogspot.com/2014/10/librarians-corner-snarkout-boys-and.html
Tuesday, October 21, 2014. Librarian's Corner: The Snarkout Boys and The Avocado of Death. And the Avocado of Death. First of all, I have to say that this is the strangest. Book that I've read in a very long time. But then again, its a Daniel Pinkwater book, what do you expect? Oh, you're not familiar with Daniel Pinkwater? Let me introduce you. Pinkwater writes absolutely ridiculous books (mostly for children) about such every day occurrences as talking lizards ( Lizard Music. And The Last Guru. About D...

Things I'm Doing...: Librarian's Corner: Like No Other
http://carynska.blogspot.com/2014/09/librarians-corner-like-no-other.html
Sunday, September 21, 2014. Librarian's Corner: Like No Other. Is a novel that had me hooked from the very first chapter. I read an early excerpt online, and I had to track down a copy to read the whole thing. Luckily, my library was getting on in, and I was able to place my name on the list. The story is about a Hasidic. And things just get more and more complicated from there. The story is a bit Romeo and Juliet. Being Jewish myself, this is a culture that I am very familiar with, and it was fun to see...

Things I'm Doing...: May 2015
http://carynska.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Friday, May 22, 2015. Project Sundays 5-10 and 5-17-15. Now that we've finally got that railing out of the way, it's time to start on our next project, which is to fix up the two raised garden-beds in the front of the house. And by "fix", I mean "completely re-do from scratch". You see, the previous owner of the house left us this:. Worse, and needed fixing more desperately. At this point, we left to go back to the apartment and get cleaned up. It was Mother's Day, and we were taking our moms out to ...

Things I'm Doing...: April 2015
http://carynska.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, April 26, 2015. I know it's been a long time since I've done a Project Sunday. Grad school will do that to you), but now that we're home owners. Expect to see more of them coming your way! Let's start with this one. Railings, pt. 1. You need to drill holes into the concrete, with a special masonry bit and a hammer-drill. Not a quick process. Trust hammer, gets the job done. That's my father-in-law's foot! It came with the house, honest. Anyway, stay tuned next week for Part two! Posted by Caryn F.
