Tuesday, May 18, 2010. Aluminum and Copper (II) sulfate Redox Lab. Safety Precaution- Make sure you put on safety glasses and wear an apron. The weight of the product that was filtered out is .71 grams. Thing in this lab that could have messed with our results could have been the error in the amount of each substance we put in the water. The ratio could have changed our results. In order to get an actual answer we would have to repeat the lab multiple times and get and average. Tyson Seth and Sthuler.

Friday, February 19, 2010. Making Lewis Structures using models pieces to figure out the shape and the polarity of combinations of molecules. Grab the right piece that corresponds with the molecules and put the correct amount of bonds to it and all the other molecules. Draw a three dimensional picture of the elements. This lab was very informative. Tyson Seth and Sthuler. March 5, 2010 at 9:34 AM. Maybe add some more information. But nice job with the pikks. March 5, 2010 at 9:54 AM.

Thursday, March 18, 2010. We added different types of solutions together and saw the out come. We wanted to find out the reactants and the products. By seeing what is left or the presents of hydrogen in the air. Proper safety equipment ( goggles and aprons). The Zinc changes to a rust color and there is no presence of hydrogen. 8594; Cu ZnSO. It bubbled it is exothermic and popped when fire was put in meaning there was hydrogen being released in the solution. Mg HCl → H MgCl. Tyson Seth and Sthuler.

Thursday, February 4, 2010. In this lab the use of chromatography paper and different solvents to test the retention time of the solvents. The retention time of each solvents. Tested to see which of them had a better retention time to disperse the independent pigments. The solvents were tested to see which had a better retention time and how far to disperse the pigments up the chromatography paper. Test which color had which pigments mixed in the mixture or if it was a compound. The water worked the best...

lhs chem 4 lab station 11

Lhs chem 4 lab station 11. Thursday, May 20, 2010. We would expect to find Copper II sulfate pentahydrate to go through a single displacement oxidation reduction reaction where aluminum would exchange with copper and form aluminum sulfate. Therefore, leaving behind copper which will later be filtered out and weighed. Medium sized beaker about 250-400 ml. 10 grams of Copper II sulfate pentahydrate. 424 grams Aluminum powder. Filter paper two sizes. Mass of Copper II sulfate pentahydrate=10g. This lab help...

Lhs lab report blog. Link to Howell Space. Thursday, May 20, 2010. In this lab we will be mixing aluminum powder with a mixture of copper sulfate and water. The purpose of this lab is to measure out different quantities of chemicals and along with there molar mass incorporate those numbers into equations that will give us info such as the limiting reactant, percent yield, and theoretical yield. With this lab you are also given the opportunity to observe multiple chemical reactions. 412g Al X 1 mol Al/26&...

Thursday, May 20, 2010. 8gAl * 1 mol Al/26.98mol Al * 3 mol Cu/2 Mol Al * 9 g Cu/ 1 mol Cu=2.83 grams of Cu. Our theoretical yield, which is the maximum amount of product given from an amount of reaction , was .9 and our actualy yield, the amount actually produced, is 2.72 gave us a percent yield of 46.46%. The percent yield was to accurately show the real amount of copper given off from the reaction. Add 75 to 100 ml of water to the beaker. Measure out .7 and 1g of CuSO4*5H2O. Weigh out a piece of paper.
