Notes from Guate: Books, Books, Books

http://www.libbyinguate.blogspot.com/2011/09/books-books-books.html

Friday, September 2, 2011. Books, Books, Books. I've always loved to read. When I was a kid, I read constantly. Every summer I participated in the Reading Program at the T-burg library, keeping a list of all the books that I read. Dad was always sarcastically scolding me, "Libby, get your nose out of that book! I told you to quit reading! No, I didn't bring an entire suitcase of books with me from home! Notes from Guate: November 2010

http://www.libbyinguate.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

Saturday, November 27, 2010. Here's how the turkey arrived at my house. Sole with our Thanksgiving turkey. Despite being far from home, I had a wonderful Thanksgiving, complete with crisp, cool November weather! I invited the volunteers that live close by to my house for dinner, and we made an impressive group of 15. We just received a bunch of new volunteers here in the Oriente (the eastern part of Guatemala), which more than doubled the volunteer population out here. Yay oriente! What a small world!

Wednesday, February 23, 2011. Jalapa to Antigua and Back. February sure is flying by, so I figured I had better get in one last post before the end of the month! Then Saturday they head home. Last year some other volunteers told me that they were going to translate, so I tagged along for a couple of days. Luckily this year I was able to be there for longer. And what a great experience! Speaking of nutrition, I just read an interesting article about malnutrition in Guatemala:. To be able to bring along Fr...

Notes from Guate: March 2011

http://www.libbyinguate.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Monday, March 21, 2011. These are a bunch of kids from Stephen's neighborhood anxiously awaiting his arrival at a surprise housewarming party we had for him last weekend. Unfortunately.he wasn't very surprised. Apparently when you invite a bunch of kids to a surprise party, it doesn't stay a surprise for very long. Here are some random thoughts and sights from the past week. Last week at the produce market in Jalapa I found two rare finds: spinach and Brussels sprouts! Here's a picture of Laurita, one of...

There and Back Again | A Human's Tale, by Libby Sgambelluri

There and Back Again. A Human's Tale, by Libby Sgambelluri. June 6, 2013. Nothing to do with Volcanoes. Although I have been here for a little over two weeks, and already find myself growing in new and challenging ways, I have had a difficult time sitting down and trying to hash out what exactly has been happening since I arrived here. Each new day has brought with it a wide spectrum of emotions. This was especially true of my first week here. It had my chapstick and sewing kit in it, for goodness sake!

Sharing Senegal

Tuesday, January 16, 2007. Keeping with current trends, I decided to post my final thoughts an entire month after my return. Yes, this was a conscious decision that had nothing to do with the holiday season, the largest snowfall this winter, the general ecstasy of being back home or my incurable tendency to procrastinate. Totally deliberate. Absolutely. Do I miss it? Posted by Libby @ 1:41 AM. Thursday, December 14, 2006. Until next time, my Senegal, God willing. Ba beneen yoon, sama Senegal, inchalla.

Its the start of a new year.and with it comes n. View my complete profile. Saturday, January 2, 2010. I will miss being home but the knowledge that it is for Christ's sake makes it much easier to do. I want to be in God's will whatever it is. If He wants me to live out the rest of my life in Spain, I will. But at this point I'm just going to take it a year at a time.and follow where He leads me. Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called children of God! Shall tr...
