Sunday, June 8, 2008. Last week I went to the gigantic fabric market in Beijing on a treasure hunt to find some tiny white buttons and some wide pink and green ribbon. Tuesday, May 20, 2008. As you all know, a week ago on May 12 there was a 7.9 earthquake in Sichuan province here in China. That's about 900 miles from Beijing, but it was felt here too. (The newspaper said it was a 3.9 in Beijing.). I wasn't worried because (1) The plane had just landed and so obviously the runways were fine. In preparation for the Olympics, they are trying to see how much they will be able to clean up the pollution in the air- to make a better impression, I guess. Tuesday, May 15, 2007. Finally Finished.and Starting Something New. Today Brian finished his Master's Degree. He didn't get home until 2:30 am, but it's finished. Happy day for him and for us! Sunday, September 21, 2008. Inner Mongolia (September 19-20). Then we went inside the airport and when I took the passports out of my purse I discovered that I only had four: Adam's was missing. I couldn't think where it could possibly be, then I remembered that the night before I decided to make copies of our passports- I had left it home on the printer! Monday, November 10, 2008. A Tale of Two Cities. By popular demand here are some pictures of Adam in his high school play, "A Tale of Two Cities." It was really fun to see him up on stage. He did GREAT! Yup That's Adam with the white hair and black coat. These are all the LDS kids that were in the play. With a total cast of 24 people, it was a pretty high percentage! Wednesday, October 8, 2008. Sleeping on the Great Wall. Adam had play practice until 1:00 and Brian and I were trying to get our Thailand trip scheduled, so in our family only Erin and Jake rode the bus and Brian, Adam and I had Mr. Huang drive us up there and drop us off a little later. The rooms were basic, but clean and the grounds were really gorgeous. Breakfast Sunday morning was in the same dining room as dinner- bread, jam, fried eggs, sliced cucumbers and tomatoes, and some kind of meat stuff....

Monday, October 29, 2007. We bought SO much candy to give away, but we ended up sending Adam out to buy more in the middle of then evening, and then later we had to put a sign on the door saying "Sorry. We're out of candy." That was pretty amazing to me. I don't rememeber ever running out of candy in the US, but we did here!
