Life Looms Large

Monday, July 1, 2013. This spring, a new plant appeared in our garden. The flowers are about 2 inches long. It moved in on top of some coral bells. (I hope I can separate them next spring! The plant on the left is a toad lily from Rolling Green Nursery. That I added to the garden last fall. I wonder if seeds for my new garden volunteer hitchhiked on that toad lily somehow. If you know what this plant is, please let me know in the comments or via email! Saturday, May 26, 2012. In February, Main Street Art.

Life Looms Large: January 2011

Friday, January 28, 2011. Merrimack River Eagle Festival, Feb. 12, 2011 in Newburyport, MA. Each winter, bald eagles congregate in areas of New England where there's reliably open water on rivers. The Merrimack River in Amesbury and Newburyport, Massachusetts, USA is a great place to watch bald eagles in February. There's plenty of space for photographers (although with this year's deep snow it might be a little tougher.). The photos in this post were taken by Jim (Mr. LifeLoomsLarge) in February 201...

Daisy Hill Weaving Studio: December 2013

http://jennybellairs.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html

The studio is located outside the beautiful town of Charlevoix, Michigan, about one mile from Lake Michigan and Lake Charlevoix. Tuesday, December 31, 2013. Every year my girls and daughters-in-law get kitchen towels from me for Christmas. Carolyn's towel was first. The colors she chose were light orange, red, green and yellow. The yarns used were 8/2 cotton. This towel is for my DIL Rebecca. She wasn't here to pick her colors, but she loves anything blue, so my daughters and I picked for her. I ...As I ...

Daisy Hill Weaving Studio: March 2014

The studio is located outside the beautiful town of Charlevoix, Michigan, about one mile from Lake Michigan and Lake Charlevoix. Thursday, March 20, 2014. Should Towels Be Hemmed Before or After Washing? Regarding wet-finishing handwoven towels before or after hemming, here is my rationale for doing hemming after washing. Even with washing first, some reed lines may still be faintly visible, as the center towel shows. Part of the wet finishing process is finishing your cloth with a hard press and that is...

The studio is located outside the beautiful town of Charlevoix, Michigan, about one mile from Lake Michigan and Lake Charlevoix. Friday, November 21, 2014. A Years Old Project Finally Finished. Several years ago, probably about seven, I decided I wanted to learn how to knit socks. There were so many pretty sock yarns to choose from, so I picked out this pretty Panda Wool bamboo blend yarn, not realizing it wasn't the best choice for an inexperienced knitter. I finally finished the heels and was able to d...

Threadbare Designs - a Weaver's Journey. Online Product Registration Form. Wednesday, January 28, 2015. There is no doubt that this winter will be one for the record books, I am sure! Looking towards our garage and driveway, after plowing and. You can see the sizeable pile against the house. Some areas were waist-deep prior to the clean up. And here is the other side of our house, the side that was more exposed to the winds. Of course, the piled up snow near the street is another issue all together!

Gypsy Rose was finished at the same time I finished Hamish, but because she was a gift, I didn't write about her right away, and then I got sick and didn't have the energy or desire to write. I decided today, that I can't wait any longer. She needs her story told. Hamish is on the left and Gypsy Rose is on the right.

I'm almost afraid to say it out loud, lest Mother Nature hears me and decides that one last storm is due. Do you remember this photo? And this one, showing the actual pile from the outside. I can happily say that after a week and a half of temps above normal, meaning the 50's and 60's, plus several more in the 40's, this is what is left of the pile;. How lucky am I? I'm also having a bit of an adventure in ...

A Sweet Thread: May 2014

http://asweetthread.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

Jam, pastries and yarn intermingle with pet hair. Sunday, May 4, 2014. I have finished a cardigan, a shawl and a pair of socks in the past week, and I am feeling pretty darn good about it! Today is supposed to be beautiful, but I need it to warm a little bit more before I get out there and garden. Might need one more cup of coffee and just a couple rows on the new sweater. What a lovely Sunday! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Brasstown, North Carolina, United States. View my complete profile.

Jam, pastries and yarn intermingle with pet hair. Monday, November 25, 2013. For the last two weeks, I've been. I've been making pies to taste, making pies to sell at the Tomato Head restaurants, making gluten free pies, vegan pies, chocolate pies, pumpkin pies, pecan pies. Pies have been my life, at work, anyway. But two weeks ago, some friends and I went to the Slow Foods Tennessee Valley Pie Contest. Jam, pastries and yarn intermingle with pet hair. Saturday, October 25, 2014. The first blanket done will go to my co-worker who is due in less than a month. She is still working just as hard as ever, and sometimes, we need to ask her to slow down a little, but she's getting tired at the end of the day. Sometimes, I just want to ask her to sit down! But she never would. The underside, in early morning sunlight. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Brasstown, North Carolina, United States. View my complete profile.

Life looks different with my aviator shades. Viernes, 8 de octubre de 2010. Han pasado mil cosas desde la última vez que escribí en Life looks different with my aviator shades.
