Thursday, August 13, 2015. First Day of First Grade. The last week of summer was, ahem. intense. The kids were hot and tired. Hot and tired and all kinds of un-kind adjectives. They are my kids, I can say these things. But, it was a busy summer and by the end- they were tired. They need structure. (read: Mama needs a break). On Monday, Leenie started back to school as a BIG first grader. I woke up to feed Fuzzy as the alarm buzzed, still full of the cobwebs from summer. It came out of nowhere and it came...

Saturday, April 27, 2013. As we get closer to the end, I am certain that my blogs will get sappier about life in the District. Most importantly, they will probably involve these amazing ladies that I have met and how I truly adore them, their children, and their husbands. Mostly, I love the gentlemen. We get spit up on. Usually not by our own. We laugh a lot. We talk about God, faith, and pancakes. We lay train tracks for the kids to mess up. We wash another's clothes with promises of returning t...Mothe...

the Cagles: The windows shattered

http://lifeofcagle.blogspot.com/2015/07/the-windows-shattered.html

Saturday, July 25, 2015. The house is ready. It was ready at exactly 2:29 yesterday. I texted Husband and said, "The house is (almost) ready. Huge sigh of relief." I invited a friend and her daughters over for the afternoon, as renovations are noisy and her kids were sick of hearing the nail gun. Child labor is not what it used to be. And, yes, I do pay her exactly twenty five cents. No judgement. Wynn came to the kitchen to tell her mom she was ready to go home. Yes, M'am.". No- no she didn't get a hair...

http://lifeofcagle.blogspot.com/2015/05/opening-my-heart-for-his-eyes.html

Wednesday, May 6, 2015. Opening my heart for his eyes. In high school and college, we would often have non-philosophical debates posing dumb questions and deciding what we would want or what we would do. Would you rather… is how the question would start. Would you rather have 10 fingers and 8 toes or 8 fingers and 10 toes? Would you rather be rich or never have to buy anything? Would you rather be sightless or without hearing? What would you rather have? No eyes or no ears? But, do I really? Sight is not...

Wednesday, September 10, 2008. Out of the mouths of babes. Wild Man is eating his lunch. I gave him an admittedly generous portion of goldfish after he finished his sandwich, and I was getting a few things done while he ate. Wanting to check on his progress, I called to him, "Have you eaten all your crackers? He sighed and said, "So many crackers, Mama.". September 10, 2008 at 1:39 PM. What a fun guy. http://buildingwiththreads.blogspot.com/2013/10/here-there-and-everywhere.html

Friday, October 4, 2013. Here, there, and everywhere. Hi I'm just going to give you a moment to catch your breath, because we all know that the sight of a tiny, precious human takes it away for a moment. This is the New Guy, just one day old, shortly after we arrived home from the hospital. There was a rare moment of sunshine in which he chilled and basked (via windows in the playroom) before the bottom fell out. Again. It rained. An awful lot. And it was amazing and a little bit insane. We sent the 4 ol...

http://buildingwiththreads.blogspot.com/2013/11/on-doing-it-all-again.html

Tuesday, November 26, 2013. On doing it all (.again). It's still easy for me to believe that other people have their act together, have life figured out somehow. I don't ever want to put on a front, but it doesn't take much for us ladies to feel insecure. I feel it in my own heart.um, constantly. Really. It's a black hole of self-deprecation over here, y'all. Question that makes me cringe even more now than it did a few years ago. I don't know how you do it with 5. Two is really hard for me," she sor...

Tuesday, August 31, 2010. Love looks like a cooler to me. Intrigued? I hope, I hope, I hope and pray that anyone who reads my blog is blessed enough to be really loved. Really, truly, deeply, unconditionally, selflessly loved. I am beyond blessed in this way. First and foremost because I am loved by my Savior. Also because I have an incredible husband. And parents, and in-laws, and my brother, my friends. And because, after wishing for one my whole life, I have a sister. Ever Seriously. Ever. And selfles...

Tuesday, December 17, 2013. Okay I think I'm decided on definitely moving. I even actually posted several entries over at the new place last week. It just feels like a good time for a change. :). I really hope you will join me over there. If I were really tech-y smart I might could do an automatic redirect, but then those creepers from those awful sites would automatically be on my new blog. Which is, you now, counter to the point of moving. So.good thing I'm not good at all this stuff. For our wedding, ...

Friday, May 8, 2009. I think I posted on facebook, but I didn't say anything about it here. I decided to blow off my chores. This week and relax, rest, and sew instead. It's been nice to rest in the hot afternoons (still haven't turned the AC on), but this messy - and dirty - house is driving me crazy! In honor of that, I want to share a quick photo of my sewing space with you:. As you might remember, my mother is a master sewer (that word looks weird? Monday, July 6, 2009. One of my perFECT meals: Black Beans and Rice. Did you notice my catchy capitalization? Heap, and T. Remember a million years ago when I mentioned on my meal planning post. That I have some staple recipes in our arsenal? Well, I decided tonight on the spur of the moment to blog one of Hubby's favorites, because he had the kids in the bath while I was cooking supper. So here is the recipe to one of our at-least-twice-a-month recipes! This recipe comes to you courtesy of my bestie Jess.

Thursday, December 5, 2013. Bock, bock, bock. So like any blogger, as I've managed my traffic I have noticed that from time to time I get some unwanted traffic. Without using any buzzwords that might cause these awful sites to pick up my URL once again, let's just suffice it to say that I don't really care for anyone who might be purveyors of such filth to be browsing around here checking out pics. So then, when it wasn't quite. I don't know. (smile). Wanting What I Have. I do like the new look! I tried ...

Thread by Thread: M-m-makeover time! (again)

http://buildingwiththreads.blogspot.com/2012/01/m-m-makeover-time-again.html

Saturday, January 21, 2012. Our home is sweet - home, sweet home. Lovely, and I love it. And it is cozy. {smile} Our house is basically one great big room with a hall and bedrooms. Our eat-in kitchen is fully open, divided only by a half-wall, to the living room; and fully open to the sunroom/playroom by a french doorway with no doors on it. So around Christmas I started begging Hubby to help me rearrange the playroom and get a computer armoire, and we've finally finished, yay! My, my - there actually is.

http://buildingwiththreads.blogspot.com/2009/07/home-again-home-again-jiggety-jig.html

Thursday, July 23, 2009. Home again, home again - jiggety jig! Even though I didn't go "To market, to market, to buy a fat pig," I always kind of repeat this "home again" line over and over to myself for the first few days we're home. I felt compelled to tell you that, because, you know, you just don't know enough weird things about me yet. Anyway, so blogging about those things will have to wait until I have pictures to share. Because I know that you're not interested in a blog post without pictures.

Saturday, August 15, 2015. All Because One Ginger Wanted a PhD #vivelafrance. We are moving to France! We leave in about 3 weeks, and we'll be there for about 4-5 years. However, in the months that followed, it has been more about documents and travel arrangements than searching out the best baguettes. Then there was that whole "Let's have a baby" to make it even cooler. (I just keep reminding myself that women have been giving birth since the dawn of time, so it can't be that. This blog is hopefully going to help me share about the daily struggles, the daily fears and the lifelong dreams we have for our daughter who has a genetic disease called Cystic Fibrosis. Tuesday, February 8, 2011. It's amazing the speed at which modern science and medicine moves. The life expectancy of a child with Cystic Fibrosis was only 15 or so. The average age of a person with CF now is well past their 30s, some even are in their 60s now! And I couldn't do it. Why not? What is $1 to me? I am ashame...
