Keith and Aya: June 2012
http://keithaya.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Go, Make, Do. June 28, 2012. To Waffle An Egg. A breakfast graced by the airy, crunchy, pockety, leger-de-pain of a cloud of waffles is bound to be a happy one (provided the coffee is fresh). And there is no dark, dungeon cell as forgotten as the kitchen cabinet or hall closet that keeps a waffle iron for the other 364 days of the year. A very hot iron keeps the egg from escaping over the sides. The cheese awaits the closing of the lid, so as to crispify. The first photo is a damned dirty liar. The filte...

Keith and Aya: September 2012
http://keithaya.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Go, Make, Do. September 29, 2012. Yellow plums, blackberries and red currants, all gathered from bushes and trees growing in parks and alleys in our neighbourhood. Beautiful, aromatic, powder-coated plums, chosen one-by-one from the farmer's box. Their yellow flesh tastes like sunshine. She took a week or two off and never started up again. It was great while it lasted. Like summer. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Subscribe to Receive Updates by E-Mail. Enter your email address:. View my complete profile.

Keith and Aya: July 2012
http://keithaya.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Go, Make, Do. July 24, 2012. Muffles. Or Maybe Wafflins. Recently we had some success at making omelettes on the waffle iron. There is a weird pleasure in eating food with grid-patterned holes in it, so we thought we would try something else. Muffin batter made with molasses, spices, walnuts and tea-soaked raisins. As the batter rises, the iron opens slightly. The hinge is not articulated, so the muffins turn out slightly wedge-shaped. To peel it off the iron. A pile for the freezer. July 20, 2012. Simme...

Keith and Aya: September 2013
http://keithaya.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Go, Make, Do. September 25, 2013. A Canadian Camping Trip. We had a sudden resurgence of summer weather, and decided to make the most of it with a little over-night canoe trip. Hard to find a canoe these days. It's all kayaks and paddle-boards. The good people at Deep Cove Canoe And Kayak. Sorted us out. Blindingly white, pretty beat-up and a bit decrepit, but water-tight (the canoe, too). Our goal was the no-facilities campsite at Granite Falls, 18km away at the north end of Indian Arm inlet. About a th...

Keith and Aya: May 2013
http://keithaya.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Go, Make, Do. May 13, 2013. A very good friend of a very good friend has been studying cheese-making in Switzerland and making cheese in northern Japan. She kindly brought some for us to sample. Delicious, dense, slightly crumbly, like a fine grana. I wish we could get this without involving quite so many airplanes. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Subscribe to Receive Updates by E-Mail. Keith and Aya: May 2012
http://keithaya.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Go, Make, Do. May 24, 2012. By pure luck and no planning on our part, we managed to be almost directly under the shadow of the moon during the eclipse on May 21. This was the first time for any of us in the house to be so close to the path of total occlusion, and a bit of mania overtook us as the moment of totality approached. Using my father's recipe, we set up a pin-hole mirror to project the image onto a darkened wall. Outside in the garden, the camphor tree. May 10, 2012. We stopped here for a couple...

Keith and Aya: Our Show, "Heavy Skies & Lines", at Kafka's in Vancouver
http://keithaya.blogspot.com/2013/08/our-show-heavy-skies-lines-at-kafkas-in.html
Go, Make, Do. August 16, 2013. Our Show, "Heavy Skies and Lines", at Kafka's in Vancouver. We have been working all through July and August, preparing our work for this show at Kafka's. The curator, Michael Schwartz, helped enormously with the installation. Vinyl lettering looks great applied directly to the wall. Aya couldn't resist including some of her animal watercolour pieces. They were the first to sell. Many thanks to everyone who came out on a damp Thursday evening. More Photos of Our Show.
