Linda A. Miller – Fiber Artist » Sonata
http://www.lindaamiller.com/sonata
A sonata is defined as a musical composition for one or two instruments, usually consisting of several independent movements. For my visual sonatas, I have paired painted line with a limited color palette, often complementary. My intention was to express the essence of brushwork on cloth through simplicity and movement.
Linda A. Miller – Fiber Artist » Brushwork
http://www.lindaamiller.com/brushwork
Inspired by Asian calligraphy, I sought to translate the simple essence of brushwork to cloth. Painting, hand and machine stitching became a contemplative process. Layouts of ancient Asian scrolls influenced the arrangement of my pieced borders.

Friday, March 29, 2013. While Enjoying the Pause. It has been great fun to let my dear Irish Cottage sit while I catch up on a myriad of other projects. One of the rewards for my perseverance was the discovery of a small piece of gray silk that was exactly what I wanted for part of the roof of my cottage. Another project that I tackled was a donation for the upcoming SAQA auction. Monday, September 9th at 2:00 PM Eastern Time. This piece is a machine quilted digital image, adapted from a photo that I too...
Explorations in Quilting and Life: Exploring Hand Stitching
http://www.explorationsinquilting.com/2014/01/exploring-hand-stitching.html
Friday, January 24, 2014. I have been enrolled in Karen Ruane's. Is used as an online venue where you may post photos and receive feedback from Karen and the other 60 'students' located across the globe. Early on, I decided that the best tact for me was to pick a project and work on it. I decided to create a 'pouch', as Karen terms them. She works primarily in white, so I decided to follow her lead. I imagined it would help me appreciate the art in her world. It was a fun experience. Posted by Judy Warner.

Friday, November 29, 2013. Another week………more progress? Sometimes one can be in the midst of so many projects that not only can you lose sight of the finish line, but lose parts of the projects in the chaos. After, more than once, spending precious time searching my studio for a necessary item, it was time this week to pause and organize the chaos. Posted by Judy Warner. Tuesday, November 19, 2013. The past few weeks have rushed past. While partly due to laying low with a cold and now sinus infectio...
Explorations in Quilting and Life: The Dilemma of Skies
http://www.explorationsinquilting.com/2014/02/the-dilemma-of-skies.html
Saturday, February 1, 2014. The Dilemma of Skies. Interpreting from the fabric design. My latest project is adapted from a beautiful photo of the Boundary Range in Alaska by Mark Adamus. The photo captures an arctic flow through the mountain range with the sun reflecting beautifully off the peaks. I have been having a great time creating the mountain tops. But, of course, there was the issue of the sky. Often I leave it till last, but I decided to tackle the issue early on in my design. Painting fabric c...

Saturday, June 29, 2013. Back From the Arctic. Two weeks ago today I was flying from Oslo, Norway to Longyearbyen, the largest town in Svalbard, an archipelago off the coast of Norway. I never quite absorbed exactly where Longyearbyen and Svalbard were until it was mentioned in our first group meeting in Oslo that our charter flight from Oslo to Longyearbyen would be three hours in length. Three hours? I can fly from Rochester, NY to Chicago in less than two! Our last photo of Seva, just a month ago.
