Prague in 48 hours: The food – Lines of Escape
https://linesofescape.com/2015/07/prague-food-guide.html
Eat & Drink. Day Trips from London. Letters from Cape Town. Tales from down under. Prague in 48 hours: The food. Before I got to the city, food was definitely *not* the first thing I thought of when I imagined visiting Prague. Of course, it was the city’s many sights. That initially sprang to mind. The orange rooftops, a castle on the hill, the Astronomical Clock and the many spires – these are the things I daydreamed about. Read on, but beware – this post may leave you feeling hungry! But there’s ...
An evening fit for royalty at the Medieval Banquet – Lines of Escape
https://linesofescape.com/2015/08/review-medieval-banquet-london.html
Eat & Drink. Day Trips from London. Letters from Cape Town. Tales from down under. An evening fit for royalty at the Medieval Banquet. I don’t know about you, but it’s not a common occurrence that sees me going into the office on a Monday morning and reporting back on the preceding weekend with the following statement:”The best part of the weekend was the moment I got to dance to disco music with King Henry VIII.”. A musician lures us into the depths of the dining hall. We were ushered downstairs into th...
Memories from my first Glastonbury – Lines of Escape
https://linesofescape.com/2015/08/first-glastonbury-tips.html
Eat & Drink. Day Trips from London. Letters from Cape Town. Tales from down under. Memories from my first Glastonbury. From 24-28 June this year, I was one of the 175,000 people who attended Glastonbury at Worthy Farm. Thanks to my good friend and fellow blogger, Nicole. I was able to nab a last-minute ticket in the April resale. What followed was a long period of planning and, in the weeks directly preceding the festival, I was in a constant but confusing state of nervous excitement. Before I got there, ...
Kyoto Garden, a tranquil spot in central London – Lines of Escape
https://linesofescape.com/2015/05/kyoto-garden-london.html
Eat & Drink. Day Trips from London. Letters from Cape Town. Tales from down under. Kyoto Garden, a tranquil spot in central London. This weekend, I came across my new favourite spot in London. Since I love so much of London, it takes a truly special place to steal away this top title. But, once you see the place in question in the photos below, you may begin to understand why. There are many things to see within this vast space, but, if you have to see just one, it’ll have to be the Kyoto Garden. Kyoto G...
Hampton Court Palace – Lines of Escape
https://linesofescape.com/2013/02/hampton-court-palace.html
Eat & Drink. Day Trips from London. Letters from Cape Town. Tales from down under. I’d been wanting to see Hampton Court Palace for ages. Since it’s on the pricey side, I had to wait for payday before planning a visit. This week, I got paid and that meant it was finally time for my visit. When it came to religious sites/institutions. Due to his sudden split with the Vatican, he ordered a lot of significant religious buildings to be torn down. Sadly, these are now lost to us. The practical bits: There are...

http://www.spillingthebeans-ng.com/londons-sights-delights-part-2
Food & Travel. Wine & Dine. Bits & Pieces. London’s Sights & Delights (Part 2). Since London’s sights and delights were too abundant to contain in just one post, here is the continuation from the first part. I hope you’ve worked up an appetite for more! The Tower Bridge looks truly splendid as you approach it and walk across. Opened in 1894, the bridge spans 244 meters across River Thames and is a worthy icon of London. Oh, that humble Ferris wheel on the South Bank? Regent Street’s beautiful curve.
Lu-Gerda's Travels: The Queen Street Synagogue, Oudtshoorn
http://lugerda.blogspot.com/2015/07/the-queen-street-synagogue-oudtshoorn.html
Thursday, July 9, 2015. The Queen Street Synagogue, Oudtshoorn. On our day trip to Oudshoorn we walk pass a beautiful stone building in Baron van Rheede Street. The gate was open and we decided to take a closer look. We walk around the building to the other side and found that this was a Synagogue. The first Hewbrew school in South Africa was established in Oudtshoorn in 1904. Part of the building complex includes the school building. The Queen Street Synagogue. Der Englishe Shul –.
