Little Bit in London: January 2011
http://littlebitinlondon.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Little Bit in London. Meshing three cultures through food, traditions and thoughts. Potato pizza is carb. Heaven, something I crave in the colder months. The inspiration for this pizza came from a London pizza place in Covent. That trial took about 6 months, but still, it's the effort that counts! As it was a weeknight when I made the pizza, I was in a rush to cook and eat my carbohydrate-laden dinner after. Just wait until you hear about eating Penguins! And olive oil and toss them around until coated.

Little Bit in London. Meshing three cultures through food, traditions and thoughts. Are you having a barbecue this weekend? It's a long weekend for the US and UK and a perfect time to get the old grill out. Well, not if the rain gods here have their way, so I'll just pretend and make summer-y foods, like hummus. Yes, enter the return of the food processor. I think most people know and have eaten hummus. Here's what you will need: lemon. tahini. The juice of half a lemon, and a tablespoon of salt. Grind e...

Little Bit in London. Meshing three cultures through food, traditions and thoughts. You read that right: homemade butter. No, I didn't spend hours churning it in a wooden tub (though some part of me loves the. Little House on the Prairie. The first thing to know about butter is that you have to have really high fat cream for it to work, because butter is essentially the fat of milk. That little nugget made me stop and think about butter in a new light! The butter and leftover milk (buttermilk) split....

Little Bit in London. Meshing three cultures through food, traditions and thoughts. Toad in a hole. I have no idea where the name comes from or if it is toad in a hole or the hole- there's no consensus on the matter. It is basically sausages in a Yorkshire pudding batter, served with veggies and gravy. I even turned to Delia for the recipe. For the batter, which makes this a thoroughly British dish. The batter is a simple combination of egg, milk and flour. Oh, and pour on the gravy! Toad in a hole.
Little Bit in London: Spanakopita!

Little Bit in London. Meshing three cultures through food, traditions and thoughts. I'm back after some readjustment (promotion at work for both me and A) which led to one of the busiest ever Augusts. In the midst of working and keeping up with the laundry- how do we have so much laundry every week! I can't hear it now without thinking of him. It's like A's friend whose favourite Greek word is karpouzi (watermelon). Place a large spoonful of the spinach cheese mixture in the centre of the dough and begin...

About this blog | Ads in my way
http://adsinmyway.blogspot.com/p/about-this-blog_26.html
Ads in my way. A fieldwork blog on advertising in London's public space. For about two years (from February 2009 to January 2011), as I travelled my way around the commercialised public space of London, I came across ads that caught my eye for one reason or another, some seducing and some appalling, but all of them somehow telling of the slice of space/time I was living in. A photographic log of those ads and a few talking points is what you'll find collected in the screens of 'Ads in my way'.

The Bittersweet City: February 2015
http://thebittersweetcity.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, February 24, 2015. I recently saw Wild. It’s not often I’m driven to write about a film, but I feel very moved by this one. It’s going to stay with me for a while. I think it was Legally Blonde. That did the damage. I liked her in Four Christmases. But ye ole faithful – loneliness – set in. (The radio, I’m hoping, will assist with the loneliness but won’t kill all the brain cells that a TV would). Having seen all of the films at my closest cinema – save American Sniper. And the cowboy that's lov...

The Bittersweet City: Flutter (A Short Story, Not At All Autobiographical)

Thursday, August 6, 2015. Flutter (A Short Story, Not At All Autobiographical). The idea had come to her in a Williamsburg bookshop. She had picked up a series of travel essays about Iceland, and she’d fallen in love with the photos; her glacial eyes gleaming at finding such serene blues on the book jacket. They had picked the Harpa concert hall as their meeting point. “We can pick up our own symphony where we left off,” she had said. They whatsapped their salads to one another. The Bittersweet City: Ahora Caigo
http://thebittersweetcity.blogspot.com/2014/06/ahora-caigo.html
Tuesday, June 10, 2014. And other words that end in an A sound. The truth is we've not had much time, or many euros to spare. Oh, eff off, you live in a sunny place, I hear you protest. You can walk to a beach, you lucky biscuit. ¡Callate, puedes caminar a la playa, eres afortunada! So that's why ditching the city for this place for a bit was much needed. See how it makes the Mister look positively catalogue-model winsome? Quite literally, Now I Fall, or Now I Get It! You know the format, but did you kno...

Monday, August 25, 2014. Today is my birthday. I arrived in New York 13 days ago, and I'm missing my family acutely. The Mister is still in Barcelona, working hard, and working on a plan to visit me here, as am I planning a half-term break to return to my beloved Barna. Today was also the first day at the new school with returning staff coming back (last week I was oriented amongst other brand-new staff only). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Wednesday, January 8, 2014. January, Day 8. Little Bit in London
Little Bit in London. Meshing three cultures through food, traditions and thoughts. This past weekend, A's brother had an engagement party and I went a little crazy making cakes: 64 cupcakes and a two-tiered layer cake to be precise. It was a lot of fun! For someone that does not usually make cakes, it was good to try out different recipes and new techniques. You cannot go wrong with the classics and these were certainly popular! Sorry In my previous job, I worked in an office with a few people, one of w...

Because blogs are way cooler than baby books! Sunday, October 3, 2010. Yesterday evening after my bath, I got my first haircut. Mommy put me up on the bathroom counter, grabbed the scissors, and trimmed my bangs in two snips. With the first snip, I said, "Mommy cut you! Friday, October 1, 2010. I had my 2-year check-up earlier this month and was 33.5 inches tall. That makes 5'7" our estimate as to how tall I'll be as an adult. I've been 2 years old for 3 weeks now, and in general, I am pretty terrific.
