Poops and Eats: December 2009
http://poopsandeats.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 11, 2009. Dinner at Westville on a cold winter's night. On Pat's advice, I decided to check out Westville. With Katya. She described it as a more rustic Ottolenghi. So I had to check it out for myself. For those who aren't familiar with it, Ottolenghi is one of the best cafes in London. Everything they serve is so fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented, usually bursting with colour. I could eat it everyday.and I almost did the last time I was in London! The Cast Iron Crook: Boon Tong Kee
http://castironcrook.blogspot.com/2012/01/boon-tong-kee.html
The Cast Iron Crook. Thursday, 5 January 2012. Chicken Rice is a national dish of Singapore that varies in tastiness according to the flavor if the rice and the chicken. This place was highly recommended by local friends and we were not disappointed. However unlike HK, they provide only two dipping sauces, the sweet thick soy sauce and the chili sauce. Noticeably absent was the ginger scallion oil, which I could easily drink on its own. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Oh my god, that's so fetch.

The Cast Iron Crook: Easter Sunday with Blue Hill at Stone Barns
http://castironcrook.blogspot.com/2011/04/easter-sunday-with-blue-hill-at-stone.html
The Cast Iron Crook. Tuesday, 26 April 2011. Easter Sunday with Blue Hill at Stone Barns. The courtyard of the restaurant's entrance. The farm's green house. Purple and green basil. Kale in candy colours. I believe these ewe's were sheered because they are pregnant (note the swollen bellies and pronounced udders). En cocotte, benedict, or scotched? One thing is certain: screwing up is not an option. Perhaps this lazy oaf. We all opted for the 8 course surprise menu. Everyone was asked what their diet...

Poops and Eats: January 2010
http://poopsandeats.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Wednesday, January 20, 2010. The Breslin Bar and Dining Room. On Tuesday my brother and I had lunch at The Breslin Bar and Dining Room. At the Ace Hotel. The new restaurant by April Bloomfield of Spotted Pig. Fame The food was amazing! Definitely worth all the hype and anticipation. We shared the most delicious salad - shredded roasted duck and brussels sprouts, with sunflower and pomegranate seeds, tossed in parmesan cheese with a dash of lemon juice. This was definitely the highlight of the meal.

The Cast Iron Crook. Thursday, 5 January 2012. On the hawker trail: Singapore. After a year long hiatus from the blogosphere, the crook has re-entered the fold. My newest project: a Southeast Asian food trip as research for Vivian, a SE Asian noodle eatery that is slated to open in Manhattan in the coming year. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Cast Iron Crook: November 2009
http://castironcrook.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
The Cast Iron Crook. Sunday, 29 November 2009. Date Chocolate Loaf w/ Pistachio Crumble. This recipe is great. The cake comes out moist, and I love dates, especially Medjool ones. This recipe was inspired by Ottolenghi's Sticky Chocolate Loaf, which uses prunes and doesn't have a crumble. For this recipe, I used a financier pan and a regular loaf pan. 1 Pistachio Crumble Recipe. 200g dried dates, pitted. 100ml Armagnac or Cognac, heated so it's almost boiling. 1 teaspoon baking soda. A pinch of salt.

Poops and Eats: Brunch at Little Giant
http://poopsandeats.blogspot.com/2009/11/brunch-at-little-giant.html
Friday, November 27, 2009. Brunch at Little Giant. To fuel up for Black Friday, Dad, Achie Annette, and I grabbed brunch at Little Giant. One of my favourite spots in the Lower East Side. The decor is really cute and homey and the food is delicious. Best to get a combination of sweet and savoury dishes - like their amazing french toast with caramelized bananas with a side of their mouthwatering mac and cheese with perfectly toasted breadcrumbs on top! Dad ordered the French toast with caramelized bananas.
