The Doan Family: November 2014
http://the-doan-family.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, November 23, 2014. This weekend Sarah and I took advantage of our warmer weather and headed outside to put the garden to rest for the season and decorate for Christmas. It was great to be able to decorate without the cold and snow. I know in the past I have been outside in much colder temperatures, so this was lovely! We like to get started early as there is much to do inside and out at Christmas (and we love this! Let me take this opportunity to invite you to our Annual Christmas Open House.

The Doan Family: August 2015

Tuesday, August 04, 2015. For many years now, our family has been going to the Salmon Arm Camping Resort for an annual family camping trip. In recent years, we have added to our number and we now have Auntie Dawn and Uncle Greg, Stewart and Tobi and their family, and Erin and Owen and their family. It makes for a wonderful time together. Here Magda is picking Anna up in her inner tube, much to Anna's delight. Lounging by the pool is definitely a treat! Sophie, Sarah, and Ethan enjoyed themselves too!

The Doan Family: July 2014

Monday, July 28, 2014. One of the "must do" things on my list for summer was visiting Lac le Jeune. I love how close the lake is and the call of the loons beckons me to come. Sarah looking very relaxed. Sophie - bundled in a towel after braving the water. Children Buckets Sand Water = Fun. Due to the higher elevation, the area is much cooler than Kamloops, making it a great place to visit on our hot days. Eagle Bay Camp - Part One. Love the fun they are having! I love Ethan's smile! Up, up and away!

Monday, February 16, 2015. The Importance of Love. Today I took in some professional development at work and was reminded about the importance of experiencing positive emotions. The speaker drew upon the work of Barbara Friedrickson, who believes that love is a foundational emotion. Now at home, I have taken the opportunity to read some of Friedrickson's work, which I include here, interspersed with some images from our family's celebration of Valentine's Day. Tuesday, December 30, 2014. Sophie Comes For a Visit. We love to spend time with our nieces and nephews. Yesterday, we were so pleased to have Sophie come and stay with us overnight. Given that we are all on holidays, it meant we could plan some extra special things to do together. When I saw the gingerbread pan (in the first photo), I just knew it would be perfect for making a giant cookie with our nieces and nephews (and it was! As you can see, the girls had lots of fun getting the dough ready. I had s...

Paola, Down Under. Tuesday, October 7, 2014. You can walk from Coogee Beach around the coastline to Bondi. Nadia took us from Clovelly Beach along the way to Bondi. We saw amaziing headlands and shiny beaches. The swell and the wind were right as well, so we saw heaps of city surfers in the waves. You'll notice Scott is faithfully applying sunscreen! We had a tasty lunch at Bronte Beach alongside beautiful people wearing small yet stylish bathers. Oh, I beg to differ! Sunday, October 5, 2014. She ran lik...

Paola, Down Under. Tuesday, May 13, 2014. Scott's Birthday was in the first week of May, and we celebrated on the day with a special trip into the city for a gourmet steak dinner. We are systematically eating our way through all of Melbourne's top ten steak restaurants. Funny thing: we are guaranteed to be served by a North American every time. Last year, a girl originally from Duncan was our waitperson, and this year an American served us. Walking with the Dog. How can you deny this face anything? She g...
