CHE STRESS!

Sunday, April 29, 2007. For class on Thursday, we read the introduction and first chapter of “Emergence” by Steven Johnson. Johnson introduces the emergence through the example of slime mold. Slime mold is an organism that usually lives as a single cell, moving about independently of other slime molds. However, when resources in the environment are scarce, all of the cells will self-organize into what looks like one single organism, without the direction of any one cell, or pacemaker. When we checked out...

CHE STRESS!: My Experience on the Bus

http://lizpblog.blogspot.com/2007/04/my-experience-on-bus.html

Wednesday, April 11, 2007. My Experience on the Bus. Today, since the weather was so crummy, I decided to ride the bus. In class we determined that the bus can be considered a non-place, mainly because the reason for taking the bus is transit. You don’t really ride the bus expecting to talk to anyone, and most people are anonymous “travelers.”. Drops off right in front of it. I got on the 80. On Charter and rode that to Memorial Union, where I picked up the 85. Other than that, the most common words that...

CHE STRESS!: MUDs: New Technology or Avoiding the Real World?

http://lizpblog.blogspot.com/2007/03/we-have-been-reading-several-articles.html

Tuesday, March 27, 2007. MUDs: New Technology or Avoiding the Real World? We have been reading several articles dealing with how our identity fits into the whole network culture idea. The first was a chapter titled “Identity Crisis” from Sherry Turkle’s book Life On the Screen. It was about how many people now go online into internet communities, and create alternate personalities and identities. The second was from the introduction of Andy Clark’s book, Natural Born Cyborgs. I had never heard of a MUD b...

CHE STRESS!: January 2007

http://lizpblog.blogspot.com/2007_01_01_archive.html

Wednesday, January 31, 2007. The Voting Results Are In: Sports Are Better. Da Bears are playing in the Super Bowl on Sunday, and I am getting really excited. All of the hype and anticipation going on in. Reminded me of a theory brought up by one of my Dad’s favorite radio personalities as to why people care more about sports and their favorite sport teams than current politics. My main disagreement with his theory is that sports are way more fun than politics and it is kind of stupid to compare the two.

CHE STRESS!: March 2007

http://lizpblog.blogspot.com/2007_03_01_archive.html

Wednesday, March 28, 2007. True Life: I can't Stop Cleaning. So recently I have discovered that I love cleaning. I know- weird, right? I was the biggest slob when I lived at home—my floor was just like another shelf to throw stuff on. In fact, you couldn’t even tell I had a floor. It also didn’t help that my parents are basically “OCD” about cleaning and organizing, so it always felt like you were walking onto another planet when you entered my room. And my roommate was a bigger slob than I was. And you ...

Jack Bauer & Other Reasons For Waking Up: So Noted: Randomized Cool

http://jackbauerwakeup.blogspot.com/2007/03/so-noted-randomized-cool.html

Jack Bauer and Other Reasons For Waking Up. All Things Good: A Running Tab. Saturday, March 10, 2007. So Noted: Randomized Cool. Malcolm Gladwell’s foray into. That day. For as much as coolness was affected by those purchasing, those selling equally influenced the equation. With that in mind, I’d like to take a look at 20 years of Air. What I am going to look at is the differentiation and evolution (although evolution implies “improved”, which is not necessarily apropos here) of the shoes. Maybe Malcolm ...

Imagine Me: emergence...

http://katethegreat07.blogspot.com/2007/04/emergence.html

Monday, April 23, 2007. At least in our society we can just pick whatever we want to do based on what we are good at and what we enjoy. maybe that is how it is for ants. Or maybe the baby just picks an adult ant to follow around and ends up doing whatever their job is for the rest of their life.kind of like family businesses. Is sick :( Get better! http://autumninjuly.blogspot.com/2007/05/sts-class.html

Final Thoughts for a Final Semester. Friday, May 4, 2007. So, last night I finally went to an STS class.good thing because I think that it might have been the last one. So, the class I attended was Dreamweaver I and it was held at College Library. I did learn some things, but I think that if I were to do it again, I would take Dreamweaver II. So here's some of the cool stuff I learned:. Buy sublingual viagra online. Does viagra really work. Viagra covered by insurance. Cheapest uk supplier viagra. This i...

Bob's Blog: Slime Mold

http://bobington.blogspot.com/2007/04/slime-mold.html

Monday, April 23, 2007. April 23, 2007 at 9:49 PM. April 26, 2007 at 2:32 PM. I learned something on the Discovery Channel a few days ago that makes me think we [as humans] may be controlled by bottom-up behavior more than we know. The information was that human beings can take in about 500 sensory pieces of data per second, while only CONSCIOUSLY processing between 3 and 5. BUT, our brains still process the unconscious data. Jack Bauer & Other Reasons For Waking Up: Superman Heats Up (well, the medium does)

http://jackbauerwakeup.blogspot.com/2007/02/superman-heats-up-well-medium-does.html

Jack Bauer and Other Reasons For Waking Up. All Things Good: A Running Tab. Sunday, February 18, 2007. Superman Heats Up (well, the medium does). Movies are hot media? Alright, I can accept that. But then, again, television is a cold medium. On the other hand, then, I have no idea what is going on. Well, I thought to solve this issue of why television was. First, in the 1950's:. Jump ahead then, to the 1970's (note the hilarious background music):. Well, the medium of superman seems to be warming up.

Liz's Life in Azerbaijan

Liz's Life in Azerbaijan. Sunday, June 23, 2013. I’ve been surprised, and somewhat saddened to find out that most people in Azerbaijan haven’t been able to see some of the beautiful and historic places in their country. I hear the reasons:. I have no time, I have no money, I have no chance. The last rings true for me. When you’re a woman, who is not used to traveling, organizing an expedition to someplace you’ve never been seems impossible. The date was set, and the bus was booked, the plan was made.

Liz Pead Studio | keep your stick on the ice, my life in hockey and art

Keep your stick on the ice, my life in hockey and art. Tufting into a woven rug! I was nervous at every step. I made this little sample with 2 ply Lettilopi in the weft on 4/12 linen warp. I experimented with pattern in á not so pretty way :P. But I loved the colour combination. It was about 22″x30″ finished. I have been looking for a better way to adhere the loops into the body of the rug, and I was considering dry felting them. This machine wet felting seems to work better. Got out of the airport and l...
