Dip & Flip | London Eater
http://londoneater.com/2015/07/23/dip-flip
Dip & Flip. On July 23, 2015. I very recently moved to South West London and have suddenly discovered the Bossam oasis that is New Malden. Dip & Flip has also recently moved into the area with the opening of their Wimbledon outpost. This follows the success of the Clapham shop – opened in 2013 – built on gravy lathered burgers. The variation to D&F’s menu compared to the market adds roast meats (choice of lamb or beef) and gravy, which means French dips, poutine and gravy soaked buns. The chips were pass...
Le Chabanais (CLOSED) | London Eater
http://londoneater.com/2015/06/30/le-chabanais
On June 30, 2015. 1030pm. Out from Goncourt station to Le Chateaubriand. His ‘cuisine de vagabond’ is celebrated (at one time, the highest French entry no.9 on the World 50, now ranked 21) but has certainly divided opinion. Maybe he’s ahead of his time or maybe it really is the emperor’s new clothes. My own experience. Was simultaneously amazing and amazingly terrible. Bread, butter, radish. In their own words, LeChab’s menu is inspired by, rather than a like-for-like of the Belleville original so ...
Supersizing at Gourmet Burger Kitchen | London Eater
http://londoneater.com/2008/11/01/supersizing-at-gourmet-burger-kitchen
Supersizing at Gourmet Burger Kitchen. On November 1, 2008. The original Gourmet burger kitchen started it’s first outlet in Battersea and since then, their super-sized burgers have exploded across the country with far too many outlets for it to be countable. If you’re looking for a great meal on a shoe-string in today’s crunch-induced environment then GBK might just interest you. The best burger debate rages on. And also to hache burgers. Burgers, burgers and more burgers. Apart from it’s fairly e...

Nopi : Smooth Operator. On March 7, 2011. What it must feel like to be Yotam Ottolenghi. Author of two likeable, innovative cook books; Owner of a string of likeable, innovative takeaway/café/restaurants, and the custodian of a weekly vegetarian column. In Guardian. And women just love his food. The ambiance is something Alan Yau would be proud of, understated slickness, all the small touches you expect restaurants to get right, they have got right. Everything came with a smile. Slow cooked pig cheek, ce...
Newsletter No.5: Catch The London Sushi Train | London Eater
http://londoneater.com/2010/09/01/the-newsletter-no-5-catching-london-sushi
Newsletter No.5: Catch The London Sushi Train. On September 1, 2010. Sushi bingeing. The final frontier. The unquestionably orgasmic delight of popping dollop after dollop of a food of an unrelentingly elegant design; low in fat, high in umami, arguably, an invention born of perfection. Some say the combination of raw fish. Without further ado, here are my London sushi finds…. Meemalee on Sakana Tei. Gourmet Traveller on Sushi tour in London. Time Out London’s best Sushi Bars. Pho the Love of Food: October 2013
http://photheloveoffood.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Wednesday, October 2, 2013. 130 Miles of Food. Poached Eggs in Melted Epoisses. Imagine you are taking a California road trip. You are starting in Santa Monica, ultimately destined for San Diego. But before leaving the swaying palms of this famous stretch of beach, you stop for a bite to eat. It doesn’t really matter which restaurant, diner or taco shack you end up at, in this imaginary Southern California the eateries of this town all serve the same local specialty. Sounds a bit wild? Well for anyone th...

An Australian eats in London: September 2009
http://anaustralianeatsinlondon.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
An Australian eats in London. Bam Bou is a French Vietnamese restaurant not far from Tottenham Court Road. I had read about it some months ago and thought the menu sounded delicious – a combination of the strong, tasty flavours of Vietnamese food cooked in the somewhat ‘fancier’ F. Rench style. Or at least, that is my interpretation! However you described it, it has been on my ‘restau. To try’ list for a while, so when I saw that Top Table was advertising a deal for 50% off food, it. We finally ordered a...

An Australian eats in London. Cooking class at The Spirit House, Yandina (Australia). So I mentioned that we went back to Australia a couple of months a. Go We had lots of delicious Australian food - barbecues, fish and chips by the water, more Red Rock Deli chips than anyone should eat in a three week period. But the foodie highlight w. Ld have to be the cooking class I did with my Mum. Sque rainforest-like surroundings on the Sunshine Coast, north of Brisbane. We were all given different jobs, from cho...
Pho the Love of Food: February 2014

Wednesday, February 5, 2014. A Boon to Regional Thai. Duck Larb, Zabb Elee. Talking about the food at the delicious new Nolita restaurant, Uncle Boons. My effusive recollections of dishes has been met more than once with the same question. “What exactly is Northern Thai food? This is not terribly surprising. Even as Thai restaurants proliferate across the United States and indeed the world (we once found Thai food in the former German settlement Swakopmund in Namibia! This is of course, a ridiculous noti...
Pho the Love of Food: You Can’t Afford Not to Travel Here
http://photheloveoffood.blogspot.com/2014/09/you-cant-afford-not-to-travel-here.html
Thursday, September 11, 2014. You Can’t Afford Not to Travel Here. Cape Dutch homes in the winter vineyards, Franschhoek. It is about as far away as you can get from the United States and the plane ticket will definitely cost more than a flight to Paris. But trust me, you cannot afford not. Which Southern Hemisphere paradise am I referring to? This is South Africa. Namaqualand's spring flowers in full bloom. Safaris, for instance, can also be done rather cheap. Not in to camping? Most often these cottage...

An Australian eats in London: March 2009

An Australian eats in London. Seared Beef Fillet with Thyme. WARNING: The images in this post may disturb viewers who don't like rare meat! In my ongoing experiment with beef recipes, I decided to try Seared Beef Fillet from John Torode's Beef cookbook. The first good thing about this recipe is that you only need a small amount of a very expensive cut of meat and it goes a long way. This would make a great starter - quick and easy to prepare and tasty and light to eat. Seared Beef Fillet with Thyme.

London: Eat Drink Do
London: Eat Drink Do. Friday, 10 February 2012. When I think of Manchurian Legends, I think of Oasis and The Smiths. Not Northeastern Chinese cuisine. That said, I generally prefer Blur over Oasis and Spare Ribs over The Smiths. Manchurian Legends' website boasts to being the the only restaurant in Chinatown dedicated to serving Dongbai (a region of Northeast China) cuisine and describes it as "rustic home-cooking with warming and comforting effects." All very nice buzzwords and I can see their point...

Foodies' London Walks Blog. February 7, 2011. Time to plan a visit to the Wakefield Festival of food, Drink…& Rhubarb. This is the pink tender forced rhubarb, grown in a small area of south Yorkshire and nowadays in demand from celebrity chefs. Its identity is now protected in Europe along with Parma Ham, Melton Mowbray pies, and champagne. January 27, 2011. Oranges Are Not Only For Marmalade.
