Saturday, February 15, 2014. So much can happen in 2 years. So much GOOD. It starts with this guy. One year ago tomorrow, on February 16th, 2013, (my older sister's birthday) we decided to get married. Around this time I was accepted to the University of Minnesota's Masters of Public Health program, with a focus on Community Health Promotion. I found an urban farm to work at this past summer. In June of 2013, we bought a lovely Minneapolis bungalow. And she's wonderful, just like her cousin Lexi.

These gals have a wonderful home in Minneapolis with my chicken-keeping friends that I think oh-so highly of. They have a lovely coop. Delicious greens to eat. All kinds of love. And they have neighbors! Another set of ladies who live a short walk away are cared for by some more awesome, chicken-keeping friends. They also have a lovely coop. And enjoy flocking together in the backyard.

Sunday, April 12, 2015. Off My Needles: Ombre Chevron Hat in Doubleknit. Just off the needles in time for some lovely warm weather here in Minnesota. This hat is thick and warm and sparkly (I wouldn't have it any other way). And I got to test out a lot of new to me techniques, such as decreasing in double-knit and a birdseye back with 3 colors. I thought I would put my knitting needles away for the season, but who am I kidding? Doubleknit Mitts are next. Ombre Chevron Hat pattern is available here.

We took an evening boat ride up the river at sunset. As we scooted along, we say hundreds of fisherman navigating their long boats and out to sea for a night of work. Monday, December 29, 2014. Off my Loom: Doubleweave. After what seemed like ages, these beauties were unleashed from the front beam. After hemming, I threw them in the wash and they came out wrinkly and weathered. A little steam and they are thick and lush. I love the inverse coloration on the opposite side. Friday, February 6, 2015. The Artisans of Ankor. Tour of their silk farm was fantastic, even if you aren't a geek about fiber arts. We got to see the process from start to finish which quickly dissolved my concern about the price of the scarf I was coveting. Our first visit was to the silk worm nurseries. Like the butterflies I raise, they are ravenous eaters and a fresh pile of leaves are added daily. Once ready they are placed on a large basket with spiraling channels, where they will form their cocoons.
