tHe MaDsEnS: She sure loves her boys...
http://crysmadsen.blogspot.com/2009/01/she-sure-loves-her-boys_11.html
Sunday, January 11, 2009. She sure loves her boys. I know I have complained on occasion about our dogs. I LOVE them to death! I really do. But when we were in our tiny little duplex, they were honestly gonna be the death of me. But as of lately, they have been so great! It drives me crazy sometimes! They have been so great with her! It was such an answer to my prayers. We call them "our boys". She has started to call them by name now. We have "Gake" and "Oda". :) Today she was giving them...Jennifer and ...

My Green Ambitions: Garden Harvest
http://mygreenambitions.blogspot.com/2010/06/garden-harvest.html
9:58 AM - Posted by Greenie - 0 comments. It's funny when I look back over the last few blog posts and see pictures of the garden. Whenever I take photos, I feel like the garden looks so good and the plants are getting so big - but then it changes so much in just another few days' time! New zucchini are ready to harvest almost every day, along with small (but delicious! And I also love how excited the kids are about the garden, too. So far they're still a bit shy about actually. Tuesday, January 20, 2009. So, we have had a "heat wave" these past few days. It's been in the 20's almost everyday. Isn't that sad? Floridians turn on the heat. North Dakotans plant gardens. Californians shiver uncontrollably. People are sunbathing in Fargo. Import cars won't start. North Dakotans drive with the sunroof open. Distilled water freezes. The water in Devils Lake gets thicker. New Mexicans don long johns, parkas and wool hats and mittens. North Dakotans throw on a flannel shirt. I really do&...

My Green Ambitions: Three Sisters Update
http://mygreenambitions.blogspot.com/2010/06/three-sisters-update.html
10:48 AM - Posted by Greenie - 0 comments. Here's an updated photo of our Three Sisters garden. The squashes along the bottom are really taking off. We even have several baby pumpkins (or are those Long Island Cheese Squash? Maybe Marina di Chioggia? The corn has several ears now. And the beans continue to climb! Than the green beans. Now that they've climbed up the corn, the purple bean plants actually have purple leaves. The purple plants seem heartier than the green ones. Or maybe the purp...My Califo...

Tomato Progress and garden musings. 12:36 PM - Posted by Greenie - 0 comments. So, remember a while ago when my tomato plants looked like this? But there's been progress. Now they look like this:. The other day when I was at work, I went by the coffee cart to buy a morning scone and they had a dahlia in a vase. Dahlias are such enormous and beautiful flowers! It would be so great to have a bunch of them growing together. It would be an explosion of color in the garden! I've always wanted to plant a few f...

My Green Ambitions: Sunberries
http://mygreenambitions.blogspot.com/2010/08/sunberries.html
11:04 AM - Posted by Greenie - 2 comments. These lovely things are sunberries. They're relatively new to me. I don't think I'd ever heard of them before my friend Cassie started growing some in her garden last year. And, since lots of sunberry seeds went into her compost pile, she ended up with tons of sunberry seedlings this spring - which she then shared with me! My Green Ambitions: July 2009

2:38 PM - Posted by Greenie - 1 comments. And set to work. It took me a long time, and I tried to do things by the book. I couldn't believe how much more work it was to make a quilt the right way! I also learned the hidden, ugly secret to good quilting: buttloads of ironing. IRONING! Like, more ironing than I've ever done in my life! But I have to say, I was mighty proud of the results. Next, the "crazy quilt" or string quilt. They're made of lots of different scraps sewn together, and it's a great w...
