Lauren's Lens: December 2011

http://www.lookingthroughlaurenslens.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html

Friday, December 30, 2011. I don't like to make New Year's "Resolutions" because the word alone lends itself to failure, and who likes failing? So instead I'll just discuss my "To-Do List for 2012." Among the obligatory weight loss and more quality family time, I really want to get back to blogging. I maintain 3 blogs that mean a lot to me (this one, my cooking blog. This isn't even that great of a shot, but I am in love with the look of concentration on his face. This is another that makes me laugh - ta...

Lauren's Lens: About Lauren

http://www.lookingthroughlaurenslens.blogspot.com/p/about-lauren.html

Welcome to my photography blog! I never understood anything about photography until my oldest son was born. I was suddenly preoccupied with why my little point and shoot was incapable of doing his cuteness any justice. After the birth of my first son, I started a food blog to chronicle my other hobby, cooking. My interest in photography only grew as I set up shots of cookies and pasta and sandwiches. This endeavor also taught me much about composition and exposure. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

I love reading this blog for the chance to teach myself new things. Her contests inspire me to challenge myself, and my goal in life is to someday have a photo appe...

Lauren's Kitchen: Asian Chicken Pizza

http://lacucinadilauren.blogspot.com/2011/06/asian-chicken-pizza.html

Follow the journey of a busy mom as she strives to keep her family happy and healthy. Thursday, August 18, 2011. I've really been enjoying making pizza for my family every Friday night. I might even be ready to *gasp* try making my own dough! When deciding on take-out, my husband usually chooses pizza while I tend to gravitate towards Chinese. This collaboration, however, satisfies us both. Oh, the deliciousness; another keeper from Stephanie Cooks. 5 ounces of chicken, chopped into small pieces. Before ...

I have been way too absent lately and I'm hoping to change that soon. Lauren's Kitchen: Taco Stuffed Peppers

http://lacucinadilauren.blogspot.com/2011/03/taco-stuffed-peppers.html

Follow the journey of a busy mom as she strives to keep her family happy and healthy. Tuesday, March 15, 2011. My most recent recipe exchange dish came from my friend Kelly. I admit I was skeptical - I only just recently discovered that maybe I DO like peppers, so I was nervous that this would be a bit too in-your-face for me. I changed a few things to accommodate our palates as well as what I had on hand, so check out Kelly's site for the original. Adapted from Running Mama Cooks. 1/2 C cooked couscous.

Follow the journey of a busy mom as she strives to keep her family happy and healthy. Thursday, June 30, 2011. I'm really not a huge side-dish-during-the-week kinda person. If my main dish doesn't already have a veggie in it, I'll throw a frozen bag into the microwave and call my meal balanced. Now that I'm on summer break, however, I'm trying to be better about serving fresh vegetables and this one from weelicious. 2 Cups Broccoli Florets. 2 Cups Cauliflower Florets. 2 Tbsp Low Sodium Soy Sauce. I'm for sure no vegetarian (I could never live without chicken or turkey! But I try to eat vegetarian several times a week. In the past, though, "eating vegetarian" meant pasta. So after some thought and research, I've decided to stick with the Human Society in Truckee but to also extend to Project Mana with any help I can give, as well as getting in contact with Truckee River Watershed Council, mainly since I walk my dog by the Truckee river all the time, it would be great to help keep it as pristine and available for future generations. Monday, January 20, 2014. Just Let Me Go. I don't think you know how much you hurt me. The things you said or did. The places you went to that made it seem like you were running away from me, or running into her arms. You said I have no reason to think it looked the way it did. I don't really know that it was how it seemed to be. How am I supposed to know if it was or wasn't? I read your texts. You don't know I read them. They weren't to her but to another "friend". Life in a cup

Life in a cup. Tuesday, 20 November 2012. Life in a cup. Sunday, 28 October 2012. Where have you been? When this is the only life that we have, why don’t we give it the best shot? This question strikes me home lately. A person can spend his time lamenting on his weaknesses and shortcomings when he compares himself with others who seem to have perfect life. Every time I see people who have already worked hard to do what they are meant to do, I ask myself, what have I done to myself? Life in a cup.

looking through me

December 21, 2016. One line of one song keeps running through my mind. It’s a song I listen to a disproportionate number of times each December, but I don’t ever remember these particular words sticking with me like this. A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices. A thrill of hope. A thrill. A sudden sharp feeling of excitement. A shivering, tingling sensation. What last thrilled me? Something desired with expectation of obtainment? New and glorious indeed. As I sit in the waiting of Advent I listen to ...
