Children's literature: reading it, writing it, and loving it! Wednesday, March 19, 2014. Social Responsibility or Write What Sells? Part of writing is reading. "Read what you write," is the saying among authors. I've heard it and read it hundreds of times. This is okay with me, since I thoroughly enjoy kid lit. It's made me think about my responsibility as a writer. Do I even have a responsibility or should I simply write what will sell? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. The Hitchhike...

By Anne Lamott; A Writer's Book of Days. By Judy Reeves; Create Your Writer's Life. READ like a writer. ...

Children's literature: reading it, writing it, and loving it! Tuesday, June 16, 2015. How to Enliven Your Writing. I'm a big fan of character-driven stories, so when I read Peggy Archer's article on how to enliven your writing through developing your characters, I immediately asked her if I could share it on my blog. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! I attended a program offered by the CatholicWriters of St. Louis. This is my ‘take-away’ from the program on creating characters:. Deciding: What we fee...

Dream Your Life...Live Your Dream | no one else can do that for you
https://whybotherwithordinary.com/origins-february-2012
Dream Your Life…Live Your Dream. No one else can do that for you. The summer of 2013 was the first since age 13 that I did not have a summer job. Instead, I was home, alone, with my two yahoos. One night in June, I was driving over the pass from Jackson. I saw a reflector and headlamp bobbing its way over Togwotee in the pitch of the night. It was like the first time i saw a road runner… i knew that dude was racing in the Tour Divide! 8221; “Incredible! Then the fall came. and the challenges of stayi...

Kid Lit Life: February 2015
http://kidlitlife.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Children's literature: reading it, writing it, and loving it! Sunday, February 22, 2015. KidLit Picks - Maggie Mae: Detective Extraordinairre. When Grandma's fresh baked cookies are stolen, Maggie Mae is on the case. She gathers clues and interrogates suspects. She attempts to catch the thief in the act but is foiled by her own sneeze. Still she perseveres and saves the day (or cookies as the case may be), and like all my favorite detective stories, I couldn't foresee the ending. A very enjoyable read!

Kid Lit Life: Destroy Checklist. Check.
http://kidlitlife.blogspot.com/2014/02/destroy-checklist-check.html
Children's literature: reading it, writing it, and loving it! Tuesday, February 4, 2014. Destroy Checklist. Check. Some things aren't quite so easy to check off the list. I haven't written much since Thanksgiving. I'd like to blame it all on the holidays and on the busyness of my job during the month of January, but it wouldn't be the truth, at least not the whole truth. The whole truth is that I've been avoiding it. It all made me ask myself, do I even want to be published? I honestly don't know anymore.
