Tuesday, 18 August 2015. Best Of The Biennale. Picture the biggest exhibition youve ever seen and times it by 3. Then imagine theres two of them. Now throw in 89 pavilions representing an entire country each, and 44 collateral events across different locations, and there you have La Biennale di Venezia. Of course it would have been wholly inconceivable to get around it all during a 5 day stay, but here is a run down of the top ten tasty artefacts and experiences I consumed during my visit:. IdeasTap - Louise Byng
http://www.louisebyng.co.uk/IdeasTap
IdeasTap, an arts charity for creative people at the start of their careers, approached me to generate a banner image for use in promoting their Christmas fundraising appeal both on their website and via direct mail. A light-hearted approach was desirable in keeping with IdeasTap's humorous voice and creative personality, but the message needed to be clearly communicated. The image was used atop IdeasTap's newsletter and their Christmas Appeal landing page. One Piece of Advice. Future C U R I O U S.

Sunday, 19 April 2015. Craft Fair Weather Friends. On Saturday 11th April the accolade of my first market of the year went to Three Thinking Collective. A group of small-business-owning ladies from Birmingham who have come together to put on their own craft events. Their debut market took place on a sunny day in The Prince of Wales beer garden in Moseley; soon bustling with punters looking to enjoy some independent shopping and hot dogs in the sunshine, all washed down with a cheeky pint. Well monthly i...

Monday, 29 June 2015. Last week I did some illustration work for a forthcoming children's summer school at Birmingham Open Media. Drawing characters made up of electronic equipment such as wires, transistors, speakers, batteries and bulbs all having fun together at some kind of groovy circuit party. Taken from the event brief: Perfect for budding inventors and restless minds, this week-long summer camp teaches kids how to solder, build and program objects that respond to commands! The alluring worlds of the. Were the subject of our fascination for Volume Four. Our initial thinking behind this choice of theme was rather simple: we wanted an abstract starting point that would allow us to pull at interesting threads, and create an original selection of stories. The. Proved to be an exciting concept that held so much potential for unusual interpretation, especially within our editorial style. Many of us may choose to burn the midnight oil and we discuss how these. With Ralph P. Ha...

Sunday, 17 May 2015. This morning I am going to London. To buy a Heat magazine. For my first market in the capital; BUST Craftacular. Looking forward to meeting the other crafters and comparing paper cuts, as well as accessorising the inevitably lovely Craftacular crowds with some country fair / political party chic. Travels, Experiences, Poetry and Devotions. A Classroom bigger than the Boardroom. November 2, 2014. Seven weeks has passed since I started with School of the Word in Jubilee Church here in Maidstone and jam-packed definitely was! I am so grateful and feel so privileged to be able to study the Word for a whole year and to be able to learn, serve but most of all share special and deep intimate moments with God. Thank you for praying for me and for supporting me! Posted in Louise goes to England. I think i...
Louise, by Degrees
Monday, 22 October 2012. Spinach Fatayer (aka Lebanese Spinach Pies). A recent discussion with a Lebanese coworker got me hungry for spinach pies, or fatayer. There's no going past the ones sold at Tabet's on Sydney Road, but I thought I could give making them a go. These turned out great - not quite as flavourful as the ones in Brunswick, but a great snack none the less. Makes about 6 pies. Ingredients for the dough:. 1/2 tbsp active dry yeast. 2/3 cup warm water. 15 cups AP flour. Sprinkle the salt ove...

Louise Byng | An investigation of sustainable design practice in relation to our perceptions of the environment.
An investigation of sustainable design practice in relation to our perceptions of the environment. 2: Finite and Fragile. However this view of our environment is shifting accordingly with how we interact with it. As modern society’s impact on the world grows and the resources deplete, so our feelings towards nature mutate. Nature has become disordered, malignant and a source of risk; it has become finite and fragile. Franklin, A. (2002, pg. 19). As technology proceeds, the more we feel like we are surpas...
