Wednesday, September 15, 2010. I just installed the sheer strips. The sheer strip is the parting line between the hull and the deck. The kayak is upside down with the bottom of the hull pointing up. You can click on the photo to enlarge it if you want to. On the floor you can see the next strip to go on. Sunday, May 15, 2011. Seaming the deck to the hull. The deck is ready to be attached to the hull. But first I needed to see if my big white royal Arabian butt will fit into this kayak. The cockpit is 17 inches wide and so am I. My friend Ted knows how hard it is to get into a sea kayak without help from someone. And my butt is a lot bigger then his. Monday, July 4, 2011. Of July 2011 and we are packed up and ready to go to Lake Fenton. For the maiden voyage of our Guillemot. Here we have the Guillemot and the Wood Duck on our kayak trailer. The little Honda Fit still gets 37 mpg. with the trailer in tow. Some big boats went by and made some big waves. Donna has never felt safe on Lake Fenton. With all the boats making big waves. This time she plowed through them without a care in the world. She never felt threatened at all. Do you see her laughing?

Tuesday, January 25, 2011. Today I took the deck off the forms for the first time. It is very fragile and I have to be very careful not to break it. I swear that it feels like it can't weigh more than five pounds. The color looks a little bla bla but when I wet the wood with water, the colors come alive and it looks great. Monday, March 28, 2011. Well it has been a month sense. My last post. I got side tracked by other things in life that needed my attention. We sold our airplane and that took me away from the kayaks for about three weeks. Then we bought a new car to replace my truck. But now I am back to work on the Guillemot. I have the deck glassed inside and out. And the outside of the hull is glassed. Today I started framing the cockpit combing. I know that it looks tall, but it will be trimmed.

Monday, May 25, 2015. My Petrel took the award for BEST KAYAK at Okoumefest 2015. The Tri County Times did a story about my kayaks. Sunday, May 10, 2015. Thursday, November 24, 2011. Gluing the Mahogany strips. Not as easy as Cedar but still not very difficult. Tuesday, November 8, 2011. The Transom is finished and ready to install onto the forms. It does not seem very heavy at all but I know that it weighs more than Okoume plywood. The first strip is clamped to each form and then glued to the transom and the Bow.
