A little slice of Harris life. Saturday, October 22, 2011. We spent a Saturday at Southern Belle Farms in McDonough, Ga. Pig races, hay rides, corn maze, etc. Lots of fun. The girls had a great time. Pigs can swim. Who knew? Julia nd the girls in the "cow train.". Summer emerges from the slide. Looking at hay on the hayride. Chilling on the hayride. In the corn maze. In the life of Miss Kim. Wednesday, September 14, 2011. Sunday's farmer's market was a feast for the senses! Tomatoes, corn, stone fruit - in California, they're all hitting their peak. Now, I'm not a tomato fan, but sometimes . just sometimes . a good tomato can send me over the moon. The heirlooms are here and at $1.75 a pound, they're certainly not a bargain, but they make up for it in deliciousness. Tuesday, September 13, 2011. I always thought the newsroom was a great setting, but that's kind of been done before. (I was a big fan of "Lou Grant" back in the day.). What about a Homeowners' Association? Mine has all the elements of a good TV show - colorful characters (think "Tales of the City,") a token villain or two, high drama, intrigue, even a good cat fight now and then. The former are used for cooking, while the latter are used for . well . jack-o-lanterns. I wondered whether pumpkin pie and other goodies would taste better with real pumpkin vs. canned. I had hoped to replicate the awesome food I enjoyed in Seoul. While it definitely fell short of that goal, it was an interesting culinary experience.
