April | 2015 | Lucy In The Pie

https://lucyinthepie.wordpress.com/2015/04

Lucy In The Pie. Tales from the kitchen. Monthly Archives: April 2015. When life gives you lemons, make shortbread. It’s that time again folks – blog time! This week I’ll be showing you my recipe for lemon sherbet shortbread. 100g/3.5oz unsalted butter, softened. Zest of 1 lemon. 135g/4.8oz plain flour. 150ml/5fl oz cold water. Juice of 1/2 lemon. One-a-penny, two-a-penny…you know the rest. It’s almost Easter! Feels like an age since we had Pancake Day, but this weekend will the everybody’s favouri...

Lucy In The Pie. Tales from the kitchen. Monthly Archives: May 2015. Hello 😀 I was planning to blog about my galette experimentation this time around, but unfortunately it didn’t go very well. It looked cooked on top but it was actually raw underneath….so it’s back to the drawing board with that one! Meantime, here’s a step-by-step photo blog for creating a six strand plaited loaf! Step 2) Take the piece second from the right. Then move it all the way across to the far left side. Step 8) Leave the dough...

August | 2014 | Lucy In The Pie

https://lucyinthepie.wordpress.com/2014/08

Lucy In The Pie. Tales from the kitchen. Monthly Archives: August 2014. What’s happened to summer? It got to the beginning of August and then something decided we didn’t need any more sunshine. Instead we get rain, cloud, cold winds, dreary mornings where nobody wants to get out of bed because everything’s. 8230;it’s just not fun. HOWEVER. There is one upside to chilly weather; stodgy food is acceptable again! Anyway, this week’s recipe is something I absolutely love: blackberry crumble. 75g butter, cubed.

Lucy In The Pie. Tales from the kitchen. One-a-penny, two-a-penny…you know the rest. It’s almost Easter! Feels like an age since we had Pancake Day, but this weekend will the everybody’s favourite time of year (besides Christmas) to gorge on far too much chocolate and watch Disney movies on a Bank Holiday afternoon. I love Easter, myself, especially the food involved! Made with chocolate chips and orange zest, and topped with a sticky marmalade glaze. 625g/1lb 4oz strong white bread flour. After an hour,...

May | 2016 | Lucy In The Pie

https://lucyinthepie.wordpress.com/2016/05

Lucy In The Pie. Tales from the kitchen. Monthly Archives: May 2016. Thanks for all the support on the Facebook page; thank you for sharing posts, reading posts, and more importantly trying out some baking for yourselves. I hope I was able to help some of you enjoy baking and experimenting in your own kitchens. Who knows where this blog will go? Maybe I’ll just go back to casual baking and not blog about it again (I seriously doubt that). My take on coffee and walnut cake! Flapjacks, baby, flapjacks!

Introduction – The Idiot Baker

https://theidiotbaker.wordpress.com/2012/09/13/introduction

Mis)adventures in the kitchen. This is my Food blog. My Cooking blog. In particular, I’m going to talk about BAKING. Not exclusively, I hope, because I can also make a mess of other areas of cooking, not just Baking. I select a recipe, and try to follow it. Sometimes it works. Other times, it doesn’t. And mostly, I don’t know why. I suspect user error. I’m embracing the wider world community. Let’s see if I can make a success of baking. Will you help? September 13, 2012. September 17, 2012. Hot Cross Buns – The Idiot Baker

https://theidiotbaker.wordpress.com/2016/03/15/hot-cross-buns

Mis)adventures in the kitchen. One a penny, two a penny, hot cross buns! Easter time, and traditionally Hot Cross Buns make a seasonal appearance. Of course, seasonality is a rare thing these days – and with this recipe (from Tom Herbert of Hobbs House) you’ll want every day to be Easter! It’s fruity masterpiece. Here’s the ingredients list:. 680g strong white flour. A big pinch of sea salt. 70g organic golden caster sugar. 30g of fresh yeast (15g of dried). The chopped zest of 1 lemon and 1 orange.

La Cloche – review – The Idiot Baker

https://theidiotbaker.wordpress.com/2016/07/28/la-cloche-review

Mis)adventures in the kitchen. La Cloche – review. In short, my initial reaction is – wow. A few days later and the man in a delivery van knocked at the door with a big box. I resisted the temptation to make an unboxing video (de rigeur, it seems, these days, and quite often ridiculously long! I don’t get it…) and opened the box and took out my goodies. The main event was La Cloche, but there were the additional packaged extras. Not an unboxing video, OK? And here are the ‘extras’. So how did it turn out?

Lucy in the Clouds

Thursday, 13 April 2017. Day Zero Project III. After racking my brains for a few days, I have finally come up with 101 things to try to achieve over 1,001 days, between 5th April 2017 and 31st December 2019. Isn't it scary to think the year 2020 is less than 1,000 days away? Who still thinks the millennium was last year? Grow a windowsill herb garden. Find a job I like that pays enough. Visit three new countries. Finish decorating living room. Turn spare room into office/sewing room. Kondo the living room.
