The Capacity of Liberty. Wednesday, 15 August 2012. Virgin, First and Rail Contracts. So, in the news today is that First have won a bid for running the West Coast mainline service, beating the incumbent Virgin bid, offering a great deal more for the service. The government. The Capacity of Liberty: 'Welfare Cash Cards' are wrong and will not work.
http://capacityofliberty.blogspot.com/2012/12/welfare-cash-cards-are-wrong-and-will.html
The Capacity of Liberty. Wednesday, 19 December 2012. Welfare Cash Cards' are wrong and will not work. Yesterday, Alec Shelbrooke MP delivered a 10 minute rule bill to bring in Welfare Cash Cards, for those on benefits, the lovely and brilliant Alexandra Swann then blogged about it, supporting the idea. The problem is, not only do I think this is a roundly un-libertarian proposal (telling others what is best for them? But I also don't think it will achieve the results set out. Does the corner shop need a...

The Capacity of Liberty: May 2011
http://capacityofliberty.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
The Capacity of Liberty. Wednesday, 25 May 2011. How not to regulate the skies. Mister ash cloud has, apparently, grounded everything for another day, following the debacle of last year's moronic closing of air space. The problem is, that the air space didn't need to be closed and despite evidently knowing nothing about the situation, regulators across Europe banned air travel. They are now at it again. The Capacity of Liberty: December 2010
http://capacityofliberty.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
The Capacity of Liberty. Wednesday, 8 December 2010. Королевская почта (the Royal Mail). As I mentioned in my last blog post, the postal service in my area has been hit hard by the weather, apparently unable to navigate the few roads from the local depot to my house. I should have been receiving some books before the snow hit, but even now, a week on, I am still without the books I paid to have delivered. No card, no parcel. I sincerely hope that the news that Royal Mail is finally to be privatised.

The Capacity of Liberty: US Presidential Debate and Polling - why the big shift?
http://capacityofliberty.blogspot.com/2012/10/us-presidential-debate-and-polling-why.html
The Capacity of Liberty. Wednesday, 10 October 2012. US Presidential Debate and Polling - why the big shift? This is why, getting Gary Johnson and the Green candidate into the next presidential debate is still important. If a 10% swing can occur in one debate, it can happen in the next, and with a real alternative, it might make a big difference. This is quite possibly what the establishment are so scared of - a real alternative might prove to be hugely popular if given the chance. Other blogs to savour.

The Capacity of Liberty: Masters of Money - Hayek
http://capacityofliberty.blogspot.com/2012/09/masters-of-money-hayek.html
The Capacity of Liberty. Tuesday, 25 September 2012. Masters of Money - Hayek. There were of course some typical howlers, like declaring Bush to be a free marketeer (the state growing in size and increasing tariffs are somewhat different to free market positions). Hayek was also described as the most extreme free marketeer, something clearly not true. Rothbard, anyone? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Other blogs to savour. The Capacity of Liberty: November 2010
http://capacityofliberty.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
The Capacity of Liberty. Sunday, 21 November 2010. Africa is a continent plighted by troubles in just about every sphere. In economic terms it has suffered immensely, suffering from long periods of slow (or even negative growth) - but this has not been universal. Currently only six African countries stand above the global average for GDP (PPP) per capita. These are (in order), Equatorial Guinea (21), Seychelles (47),. Possibly due to it's economic policies). How does it gain such success?
